I love log cabins but I'll take the stone cottage with those wrought iron windows.

Ditto on the Stone cabin. Better protection from the big bad wolf.

Tough one...
I'll also go with the stone cottage because of its robust construction (although, the thatch roof is definitely "combustible). Native American Indians soon learned the entire log-cabin was combustible... LO not so L...
I have to give the log cabins extra points though because of the macho folks who built them... But the domiciles themselves? The stone walls still give the cottages a slight edge in my opinion.
BOTH dwellings have distinct advantages in "macho" over the "mush-board" trailer-house the Missus and I live in... LOL!

Gosh that stone cabin is a lovely little house isn't it!
Gotta agree with almost everyone else--stone is more robust than logs.

Jeremiah Johnson lived in a log cabin. Pretty macho. Absolutely! Folks just don't get much more macho than "Liver Eatin' Johnson"! Even the Native American Indian tribes who tried to kill him off finally respected his spirit and incredible fighting ability. What a guy! Have a bone!
