Well, gotta go with HD since they managed to keep their image unbroken for over a century. However, I'm a BIG fan of Indians, both vintage and modern.
It will take DECADES for the new Indian to ever challenge the macho of HD, but if I was in the market for a new full-size bike, I'd be likely to go Indian nowadays.

Never owned either (except in my dreams). With the loss of so many automotive brands over the past two decades, I will go with Harley because they endured under all kinds of economic conditions for a over a century, thought they did some things along the way that they are not particularly proud of.
-The new Indians are really exciting and they have shaken up the cruiser world. Because of them, Its hard to find a new Japanese cruiser anymore. The Land of the Rising Sun has been all but squeezed out of that segment.
