Hey boyz n' gurlz…I was perusing some old motorcycle graphics on the Internet and found a few posters from around 1950... Not exactly promoting "safe riding"... LOL! Does it make ya' wanna pull on that leather brain-bucket, grab a handful of throttle and see how cable-pull drum brakes perform at 100+... ? Nah... Probably not... These graphics are likely from Europe in the early fifties, but they do showcase the "live fast, die young" mentality of those pioneer bikers... By the time I was 16 and riding, that mindset had definitely crossed the pond to America! They surely do make today's cyclist look pretty tame! Can you picture either of these graphics being used today in an ad for a new Honda or Harley, etc. ?Ride that "Death Machine" safe now, ya'll here?

The posters would now have "Only for professional drivers under closed course conditions" somwhere on them

What do you think an original print of one of those posters would be worth? I've seen that guy on Pickers pay crazy money for original movie posters.

Wheelbender6,
Good question...
Probably not too much. The big-bux posters are usually movie posters for American flicks. These bike posters appear to be European, and pertaining to the café racer culture of the fifties/sixties. Not of much interest to American biker-culture collectors.
They ARE really cool though!
Sorta in the same league as the old cigarette ads like "More doctors prefer to smoke Camels..."
I'd prefer to smoke a rear tire... LOL!

“Ride like a demon on your death machine”. I just don’t see that as a marketing campaign for the new Honda Metropolitan.
