The hammer throw, because it travels so much further.

I'll take the hammer throw... Looks like a holdover from medieval warfare, and that's pretty macho!

I have done shot-put. No, I totally suxed at it.
Having said that, I know it's more a matter of weight-training and technique, not macho. However, that hammer throw looks like you can seriously hurt yourself if you don't know what you're doing (unlike shot-put). Gotta vote hammer.

You have had quite a life, 'Kat. How many gals can say they have competed in the shot put!

Well, Debbie "Boom-boom" Barrett for one. Her records still hold in our high school, 37 years later. I believe one of them at least used to be better than the guys' varsity record, even.
Came about 'cause we found out there were no jv girls doing the field events at our hosted track meet. I was smart enough to ask Boom-boom for some pointers. I did far better with the discus than the shot-put. Which isn't saying a whole lot since I never lifted weights. Boom-boom advised after trying to teach me the spin, to skip that and just swivel and fling. I think I actually came in first for the discus, and second for the shot-put. So I didn't embarrass my school.
The discus was fun enough, I also did it for summer track. Never did get very good at it, but at least I bettered my distance each week.
So you guys better watch out, or I'll fling a discus your way! HA!

Hope your trip was a blessing... Trust me, you CAN get hurt in the shot-put... LOL! In high-school, I got fairly good at it. However, I did manage to drop the shot on my foot once, and "PF Flyers" don't offer much toe-protection... And, to add insult to injury, I managed to get smacked by a shot while watching the girls activities nearby... Duh...

... I managed to get smacked by a shot while watching the girls activities nearby... Duh... Yeah, but imagine if that had been the hammer instead.... And I apologise for not calling you, Leo. Going down wasn't enough time for anything, coming back wasn't particularly good. Although talking with you probably would've helped. Give your sweet Mrs an extra hug from me, just 'cause.

Kat,
I know about not having time for anything... My Missus is having some real issues from a past stroke. I'm now a full-time hubby and full-time caregiver. This getting old is NOT for the faint-hearted...
So glad you're back, and BE BLESSED!
Leo (Betty too)
