Any riders in the Dallas/Fort Worth area... My B&M dealer, MOXIE SCOOTERS is hosting an "END of SUMMER Rally" this Saturday!MOXIE SCOOTERS, 4117 Colleyville Blvd | Colleyville, TX 76034 (817) 788-5333 Starts at 10am. Last year's rally was a real hoot... Music, gourmet-quality hot-dogs... and a fun group-ride organized so that any size scoots can keep up. Be there if you can!
These are pix from last year's rally... Held in August, it was HOT! Should be 20-degrees cooler this weekend. If you reside near here, you might want to attend! Lots of fun... Ride safe!Leo (ridin' the "Mouse" in Saturday's rally) in Texas

That sounds like a blast. Our Genuine dealer has done some of those in the past, but not lately.

Well boyz n' gurlz…
The weather killed off the rally. Dang! It NEVER rains here at this time of year.
Rained all morning. I rode down at 11am, after rain briefly stopped. Everybody already gave up including vendors.
HOWEVER... While only SIX riders showed up in the wet... THREE of them bought NEW SCOOTERS and rode them home in the rain! If I recall, scoots bought were a Kymco Spade, a high-end Vespa and a BV 350. Cheesh, that BV 350 is one SWEET ride! Closest bike I've seen to a ride you can hop on for a short "scooter" grocery run, yet get on the freeway for a "motorcycle" trip. And they even LOOK good!
Not a total loss for this old geezer... I brought home a load of mouth-watering hot dogs and burgers... Me and the Missus chowed down big time! And riding home, I got caught in the miserable rain. First time on the Mouse... Amazingly that GIVI windshield and leg-guard plastics really kept me dry except when stopped at red lights.
The new Shinko tires with their archaic street treads were very good on the wet/oily road. I did have some fun though... On a whim, I stopped in the center of a lane where all the oil collects. Sho' nuff … if I took a tad of weight off the seat with a planted foot and gave it WOT, the little 12-inch rear tire broke loose with "great enthusiasm"... Removed the "chicken strips" from the tire, too... LOL!
Sideways the Mouse went, lock the bars right, lean right, drag a foot and for a few seconds, and 150 feet I was back in 1963 heading down the quarter-mile... Not exactly like "Old Blue" but close enough at 72 "on the edge of kissing the pavement" to get the old adrenalin flowing... just at 50 instead of 130... What memories it brought back...
Now when reaching the 45mph speed-limit, I must admit I had forgotten the "snake-dance" that begins INSTANTLY when easing off the throttle and the tire "bites"... HeHeHe… Woo-HOO! THAT will put the stoyak back in yer' poonyatz if you haven't done it in 50 years...
I had greasy hot dogs and burgers, mustard, ketchup and mayo ALL OVER the inside of the under-seat pan where I stowed them to keep them warm...
Now, old "Minnie Mouse" needs a THOROUGH cleaning inside and out! But she smells SO good when warmed up... When you're on 2 wheels, you can make the most mundane trip to the scooter shop, or to Wally-World an "adventure". That's why this site is called "It Is The Ride"! Yup!
I missed the comradery of the rally ride, but am so glad Moxie had a great sales day. The whole staff there is marvelous. They spent a lot of time and money on this event, and did get some fast sales!
After 7 years of boasting of the old Kymco being totally trouble-free, today, the starter relay is going south. Easy fix. John at Moxie ordered me one today and it's pretty much "plug n' play" so I can do it myself in a few minutes. I need to pull the seat-pan to clean it anyway... LOL! First repair needed. Not a bad maintenance record for an old girl.
Enjoy what's left of summer!
Best to resist the center-of-lane oily wet burn-outs... Not the best idea (although you could likely do it even on a 50cc) and they really cover the scoot with "schmootz" to clean later... Ride safe!
Leo (probably NOT again doing a "wet burn-out" soon) in Texas
