I learned a lot about the US in the 1930s and 1940s from watching Bugs Bunny cartoons. Bugs would parody the prominent people of that time.
I would see Bugs do a spoof of somebody and that lead me to look up more info on them.
-My kids learned a lot, in the same way, from watching the Simpsons cartoon. My kids had it much easier, since they had google to help them research things.
