IF I had the choice of a new, 2018 Kymco X-Town 300i or a new, 2017 (leftover) People GT 300i - for the same $3999 - which one should I get?

The People. It has bigger wheels and a zippier engine. It's more sportbike than scooter.

I can't get it for the same $3999 - but, I can get it for a selling price of $4154.65 - $744.35 off list. Out the door - tax, tag, title, doc fee, $250 rebate - $4650. It is 150 miles away from me in Sarasota - nice break in ride home, I suppose...

I don't think you can make a bad choice under these circumstances. I like scooters with classic styling (likeVespa) so I would pick the People 300. The x-town body work is too big and wide for my taste. You can't go wrong with either scoot.

I fully agree with Wheelbender6... I test-rode the People 300 and loved it. However, if you like "young and modern" the X-Town looks a lot more contemporary. I like the People as it's a sorta a modern, nicer, faster "upgrade" of my old Grandvista... I love the "kitchen-chair" on/off of the flat floor. Since I use my scoot for hauling groceries, cat-litter, etc. I also think the People might look more "normal" with a huge trunk and saddlebags. than would the X-Town. The X-Town looks a little "crotch-rocket" while the People looks more "crotch-friendly"... I do realize I'm 71, and, I'm guessing you are NOT... LOL!So I'm also guessing you'd prefer the X-Town... But you'd most likely be pretty happy with either one! Whichever one you choose, enjoy, and ride safe! Leo in Texas

I am 54 - and I prefer the flat floor... As they are discontinued - the People - should I be concerned regarding future parts availability?

Cyborg55 is right about cash... You know the old adage: "Cash talks, BS walks..." Nothing like a handful of "dead Benjamins" to seal a good deal!I wouldn't worry about parts availability any time soon. My old 2007 Grandvista is a real dinosaur, and my dealer has no problem getting parts. Fortunately, I haven't needed any... LOL! The "People 300" is so current that I'd expect parts to be available for a long time yet! I know at least with my old Grandvista and the even older "Bet n' Win" they use a "workhorse" carbureted 250 and tranny which is still used in many ATV 's. The newer fuel-injected 300 will likely be another "standard" drivetrain with parts available for many years... About the only parts you are likely to need for many years would be clutch, muffler, brakes and battery. Those should be pretty "universal"... And, these Kymco scoots seem to "last forever".And, yeah... The flat floor is mighty nice, even if not so glamorous. But hey, you can carry a bag of kitty litter (dog food, cement, etc.) with your feet on top... LOL! One thing I would recommend just to be sure you get the one best for you is to test-ride both models one after the other at a dealer. They are quite different, and the way each one handles MIGHT make a difference in your final choice. Enjoy! Riding season is upon us! I got old "Minnie Mouse" out from under the tarps yesterday and ran errands... She's sat for 2 months and all I did was check the tires and oil, hit the starter and she fired up like she was ridden yesterday! LOVE them KYMCO'S!

I like the flat floor myself ,,my Stella is a pack mule,,,when I go grocery shopping the Stella gets the tap,,,I got her new as a 2 year old left over still in the crate for about a little more than half price cash,,,she even was in the color I was looking for,,,

The People is Taiwan-made - the new X-Town, China - an advantage for the People, I would think...
Plus, the People is an almost-true 300 (298cc), while the X-Town is about 276cc...
I'm going to try and make the People work! Stay tuned...

OK, now I'm jealous... LOL! Have a bone for making a great choice! I don't know squat about the X-Town except it looks great, but... I've test-ridden the People GT 300i and I indeed LOVED it! To me, it is a very much improved and updated incarnation of my old Grandvista, but LIGHTYEARS ahead in design, technology and performance. It features everything I love about my oldie, only ten times more! The only ones I ever saw were painted a copper-orange metallic which is pretty, but I prefer the white. Modern and you'll never get tired of it. (easy to keep clean too)... LOL! The trunk on yours is WAY bigger than the ones I saw. Kymco must have increased the size on the newer ones, and THAT is a MAJOR goodie. I firmly believe you can't have too much storage space on a scoot that's used for everyday errands! Only negative I can see is that I don't think anyone makes whitewalls to fit those nice big rims... LOL! I don't even have to "hope" you enjoy THIS ride. I KNOW you will!!!Ride safe, and do enjoy the ride! Leo in Texas
