If you see a cool engine design, post it here. It can be automotive, scooter, motorcycle, aviation, marine, industrial or even electric motors. We hope the hi-tech stuff trickles down to something affordable by us mortals. I will start with with the Mercedes-AMG inside-V engine. Turbos are mounted inside the Vee, to keep hot/cold mixtures separate and facilitate easier packaging. More info in the video. After the chalk talk, the vid becomes more of a sales pitch.

A more affordable break through is the Nissan variable compression ration engine. Engines need a high compression ratio for fuel economy, but a low compression ratio when boosted by a turbocharger. VC-T (variable compression and turbochaged) engine claims to give you the both of best worlds. The compression ratio remains 14:1 for economy until you step on it, at which time it drops to 8:1. Unfortunately, it will debut in an Infinity. Its not available in Nissan cars until later. jalopnik.com/worlds-first-variable-compression-ratio-engine-could-ki-1785295848
