I feel your pain.
That little thing there is a needle roller from the bearing.
This came from another QJ Minarelli engine. It wasn't branded as a CPI but its all the same thing with different stickers.
Sucks but this is the kind of thing that could be fixed for like $2 in manufacture.
The factory buys a slightly better quality needle bearing and the engine isn't blewed up.

My engine looked almost exactly like that. Only got about 200 miles out of a brand new bearing. I did a re-ring job cause the oil pump failed...it soft seized 4 times and wore the rings badly. Cylinder was still well below specs...so I bottle brush honed it..added new rings and figured I should add a new needle bearing as they felt really loose in the cage. Probably from overheating then soft seizing and running with an oil pump that was not working. So I started premixing and used the bearing somebody gave me that came with their NCY kit cause he thought his old one looked fine(Stupid..never add new parts to old parts)...anyway with the 32:1 premix it ran awesome...even got brave and did 3 mile WOT...not a hint of a soft seize. Ran good all week....never got close to a soft seize. Grabbed my fave..a 2 liter RC Cola from the local store....headed out and got up to 35mph...heard an awful crunch and poof! Dead engine. Tore it down and it looked like yours....those lil needles went everywhere..even got few out of the crank with a telescoping magnet....removed the exhaust and shook 3 of them outta that!...
