I noticed my front brake fluid reservoir was a bit low today. So I pulled the front caliper and got a look at the pads. Sure enough they were running a bit thin. Not metal to metal, but definitely time to replace. I called all over town only to find that no one in the entire larger Phoenix metro area has a single set of pads for that scooter. No aftermarket and no OEM pads. No one.
It's not because it's a Kymco. It wouldn't matter if it was a Vespa, Piaggio, or even a Honda or Yamaha. I've come to find that dealers don't keep a very large parts inventory on hand. Almost everything from air filters to frame bolts have to be ordered in. Where do they order from? Mostly from Los Angeles California. A mere 6 hours from me. I'm half tempted just to move to California so I can be close to the parts warehouses so I don't have to wait a week for everything I need.
The person who sets up a motorcycle & scooter parts warehouse in the Phoenix metro area is probably going to become a MILLIONAIRE within a very short period of time.
