Ok, so I recently got a Honda Elite S 50cc off a guy, not too sure about the year, probably around 2000. Its pushing about 1100 miles and the guy said he replaced the engine but from the looks of it only the head is new. Anywho, it ran fine when I test drove it besides needing new tires which I replaced but I was on the way to a friends house and the muffler broke off. It caught the fan causing the engine to stop so I waited till I got to his house and made sure nothing else was blocking the fan. Well my friend started it up and ran it for about a minute just fine. Later on I went to leave (note the muffler is still off) and got to the end of the road before the scooter slowly died while cruising. As it started to quit on me I was trying to give it gas but nothing. Now it won't kick start or anything. Normally I wouldn't ride without a muffler but I atleast had to get it home. Any help is GREATLY appreciated as I'm relying on this thing for transportation. Thanks in advance you guys.

pull the plug and do a compression check sounds like you may have burnt a valve

It's a 2stk you did a soft seize. It ran lean without the muffler. A 2stk pulls unburnet fuel back from the exhaust and uses it again. No valves only reeds.

Cool deal, if its a soft seize what would be the remedy for that? Is it going to need a new engine or is this one salvageable?

Put a muffler on, 2ts require some back pressure more than 4ts and see if it will start and run. Even a 4t will have problems starting without a muffler. Alleyoop

I appreciate all the help you guys, I got the muffler welded back together and put on. Scooter started right up. Besides needing to adjust the carb everything runs fine.

Yep, they do need back pressure happened to a mother and son I was helping out. I went through a few pages of checking this and that and Then the mother said should we put the exhaust back on. Alleyoop

Exhaust and jetting is more vital on a 2T since being lean will cause it to seize very fast compared to a 4T that often the piston cracks when too lean . If it did not lock up the rear wheel you may be lucky . I would remove the sparkplug and look at the color of the tip as it should be a lil whiteish in color . Ideally it should be a caramel brown as I prefer to be a lil rich than dead on it . Running too rich the plug will be black . I would put in just a squirt of 2T oil through the sparkplug hole and use the kickstart to move the piston to make sure the rings are oiled before trying to start it , which you should wait until you fix or replace the muffler . I had a Honda Urban Express and I removed the exhaust just to see how it would run and it ran so bad I did not go past my home . I had a Honda CR125 that while riding with a buddy a rock hit my pipe causing a hole in it . Well dang it was a major loss of power . Tried JB Weld but it blew out and I was told it could be welded since it was magnesium instead of steel . New pipe it was a beast again . My current 2T I installed a BBK , Uni airfilter and a racing pipe . It was much louder and I lost my bottom end power since it was not restricted but man it had more mid and top end power . I rode it like that for a while but I got tired of it being so loud like a Honda CR80 which made my ears ring at times . I put the stock pipe back on and wow I had a way faster takeoff and was more peppy in the mid with just a hair less top end power . Now mine has a pipe that has an expansion chamber like offroad bikes with a curved forward muffler . I have seen many 2T stock pipes that were only tubing without the expansion chamber which helps on creating power at top RPMs . When it was a 50 I had a small Uni vent cover for an airfilter and went from a 75 MJ to a MJ and it ran great with just a lil bit louder sound due to more air being sucked in . I later got the proper red Uni but nobody in town had a jet above a in the type it uses . Well impatient me I decided well I will just go down the street as it idled fine and barely had and bog . I forgot to oil the Uni and it had a hard seize that made the rear wheel lock up and I pushed it home . I let it cool and no start . Tried next day no start . I took the engine apart and the rings were fried and cylinder scared . I later had it do a soft seize due to my oil tank cracked and the oil leaked out of it . I let it cool and poured some 2T in the tank and putted home . I unhooked the oil line and now premix it . I need to remove the oil pump too . I had a Honda Elite bone stock and a Honda Elite that was upgraded to 90cc by Honda dealer from previous owner . It was a beast as it would smoke a 4T even with me having a passenger on . I rode it for two years and never once had a single issue not even a bulb go out . I put well over 10,000 miles on it . Here is another simple test to show just how important jetting and exhaust is to a 2T , remove the airbox lid and start it up . It should bog so bad that you can not go anywhere . When I was a young teen I used any 2T oil until I learned about full synthetic like Bel ray MC1 . Before I left a chemtrail and often had to clean oil off of the plug . The same buddy also told me about using the iridium NGK sparkplugs instead of the standard . I thought at first it was just to get more money out of me but they do fire better and not as prone to fouling out from oil deposits as the standard . Synthetic or synthetic blend also reduce fouled plugs and smoke . Mine only smokes at start up when its cold . I like Maxxima 2T Pro synthetic blend since its 10 a quart as most cheap oil around 6 and they smoke . I have used Motul 710 full synthetic and it ran great but it cost 17 a quart . Make sure it says safe for oil injector if you use yours as some oil is premix only and some can be used ether way . Genuine Honda parts cost way more than parts for the Chinese scoots . I would look around and see if you could find an aftermarket pipe with expansion chamber which will require installing a larger main jet and testing a few sizes to get it right . My dealer told me he worked on a 2T that idled fine but would soft seize even though it was not lean in the carb nor had an exhaust leak . He said it had a plug that was a hotter heat range than it should have and a new plug which was cooler and it was good again . You can go to Harbor Freight and get an engine compression test kit for 20 or so . It should be over 120 PSI .
