Won't make it shine but if you like clean looking tires, scrub them with a brush and a cleanser like Comet. Yeah, I remember doing that! works wonders on whitewalls ;D

Take it off,,the scoot might not even run past half throttle...get a UNI and stick it in that airbox,,mod the box so it hooks up tight,,then drill a few holes and upjet,,you will solve most of your last 80% throttle being dead. I want to know more about putting a uni filter inside the airbox. Got any pics? if not please describe this. ;D

Unfortunately tire dressings migrate as tires are in fact pourous. On a motorcycle tire as the tread is not flat the dressing will migrate more quickly to the treads and while that may not be very noticable on dry roads you really do not want to find out how it reacts while going over a wet railroad crossing or while traversing a metal grated bridge. We have one of those Swing bridges in New bedford mass. It's well over 100 yrs old. The mid section has a metal grate roadway. I crossed that bridge on my scooter one time and one time only. NEVER AGAIN! They have cobblestone roads in the historic district too. I stay away from those ;Dand I use nothing but soap and water on my tires.

Did you have that exhaust on the bike before modifying it? I have the same(well, really similar) exhaust on my scooter. Came new that way, and it's a four stroke. Im going to use it as is on a new modified engine, and I'm just wondering how yours performed before mods. Was it acceptable? or downright no good?

With normal riding, there is no need to change the gear oil at 3000 mile intervals. It is a waste of money.Simply keep the level in check.A good weight oil is good for around 60,000 miles.

[replyingto=prodigit]prodigit[/replyingto]What kind of gears let go a lot of flakes? I've been working on all kinds of industrial gearboxes for 30 years. The only gears that shread are the bronze helical gears not found in scooters or cars. These gears are all hardened, and a scooter lacks the power needed to wear them out.I dissassembled a scooter transmission at 10,000 miles,No wear on the gears, the bearings were perfect and the oil was as good as the day I put it in. And there were no shavings or flakes.just a litttle darker

Just use any weight gear oil. You don,t really need to change it often.unlike motor oil, it sees no combustion by-products. a good gear oil in the gearbox should last the life of the scooter.

I don't know about that. I've been following some builds a little better than mine, and one says the 17/49 gearing was too much for it and he hit 54 mph with 16/50s wot, so i think 40-45 with them is very do-able.

I guess it depends on what you're after for performance.I just want 40-45 mph without WOT all the time,& decent hillclimbing.Started with a new qmb139 from scrappy's did a 50 mm jug& ,piston 50mm head,A9 cam, koso variator with 5&6 gram sliders.20mm carb, I'll start with an jet, and a set of 16/50gears. I got it all done, now to swap engines. What do you thinkof the setup? any input appreciated.;D
