If none of your friends and family are mechanically inclined, your only option is to learn the hard way and screw up a few things. A China scooter is great for that, since replacement parts are affordable. -With our help, the newbies will get the hang of it instead of giving up on the hobby. -I am just happy when I see a young (or older) guy that is willing to pick up a wrench and try something.

I never got a top secret clearance. They said I could get one if I moved to Yuma for 3 years. I would have enjoyed living in Yuma, as I had just returned from Saudi Arabia. However, my wife would have refused, and stayed in SoCal. Another opportunity missed.

Kevin should put helmet tail lights up against glove signal lights in his weekly "Who is More Macho" thread.

My 2 cents. A stock 150cc scooter does about 50 mph or so. Good for surface streets and urban highways. If you plan to commute on highways with a speed limit higher than 50 mph, it can get uncomfortable on a 150. Hopping up your scoot will provide better acceleration, but adding top speed is much more difficult. -China scoots are reliable, but will require some maintenance and troubleshooting to remain that way. There is plenty of help on this site. -Not trying to discourage you. Scooters are a lot of fun, I just want you to get something that that will meet your needs.

I agree that you are probably running too rich. Check your plug to verify it.

Men of few words are always more macho than blabber mouths. I can't pick a winner this week.

I hope the couch surfing ends soon and you have a nice place of your own. I had a sore throat all day but it was still a good day.

I have a tendency to believe actual results on the road over math and physics dogma. I work with an office full of engineers every day. Most of the time, their calculations correctly predict the outcome, but there are occasional anomalies. The two stroke pipe on a four stroke scooter is one of them.

Vermont will issue a tag without Mco/mso in many cases, from what I have read. Google Vermont registration scooter and you should get some hits with good links.

If all else fails, register it in Vermont by mail. The New York DMV will arise from the stone age eventually.
