I just really don't want a red bike... Do you think that is a big enough issue that I should think about getting a bike that I really don't like the way it looks? For the helmet and jacket, thanks. I was wondering if the coloring would make a difference. I have really only been looking at white helmets because of the heat. Definitely same idea would go for the jacket.

The bike I am getting probably is going to be all black... does it matter what color my helmet and jacket are for safety purposes, especially at night? Or will the lights on my bike and the reflective material make the color unimportant? Thanks

I would imagine a helmet is something you probably would want to get the best and not try to save a few bucks on, right? I am not sure if there is a big difference in performance between the really expensive ones or the less expensive ones. I was looking to cap the helmet budget at about $400 max though...unfortunately I do have a budget...
How do I know if it is DOT?

[replyingto=marshalldillion]marshalldillion[/replyingto]Would full gear include pants/boots as well? I am trying to use this for work.. I am a professional so i have to look decent when I show up at an appointment. I cant look like I am in a biker gang or just got back from the dirt track.
If so, do you have any suggestions on those items?
Is that MSF class the class my insurance was talking about that would reduce my rate? (along with help ride more safely of course)

Hi- I am about to buy my 1st scooter/bike. I have decided to go with a Honda PCX150. I am pretty solid on that choice. However, I don't know too much about gear or accessories or riding in general. Some of my main questions are (and please note, I do not use leather products):
- What type of helmet should I get? (I mean brand/model- I have decided on going with a full face). I was looking at a Caberg Modus which looked pretty nice however, I can't find them for sale in the US. I should probably try the helmet on before I buy it, right?
- What type of riding jacket should I get? (I live in the desert and will be using this for work.. so I need something that won't kill me during the summer and looks presentable but is also safe)
- Are all riding gloves basically the same?
- I need to use a GPS while riding. I have no choice. What are my best options to do this safely?
- Any riding tips at all appreciated.
