+ Like Alley said..if Chinese made..even 'New' is no guarantee. Also as he said the R/R has nothing to do with spark....that current to the CDI and coil comes directly from the stator. So make sure the stator is giving you consistent voltage from the red..or red/black wire.. Here is something I posted on another site that should help you.. well i did the bypass and it was doing the same thing turning over but not giving spark Question...when you replaced the CDI...did you use a 'performance' CDI..or a standard one? If so try swapping your old CDI back in and try it. Many 'performance' and even stock type CDI boxes arrive slam up dead. I have a parts/repair shop and order them by the dozen.. Always 2-3 of the 12 do not work fresh out of the box.. Also like Alley said..these things don't like water...so I open my switches and give them a good liberal spray of silicone..others use WD-40 which works just as well. Remember WD-40 was not designed as a lube..it stands for Water Displacement Formula Number 40...and it does dandy job at that. Does quiet a squeaky door hinge so my teens thought they could sneak out at night..but we dad's are bit smarter and bust them...lol

If your going to go that far might as well take out the two engine bolts and put on a big bore kit That's my next step I'm doing it all on a budget I have a wife two kids and one on the way so the scooter comes last but it will happen Only prob I have seen..was one engine that had 69mm valves..the cam lift was so high on those longer springs that it caused a slight spring bind. But that is less than a 1 in 100 chance I'm sure. Some have gone with heavier valve springs to avoid valve float from the high lift..but I have yet to actually see one suffer from that. I put an A9 cam in every gy6 50 that I 'Big Bore' cause like millsc says.. "If yer already in there..may as well do it all and be done" But I understand money limits.. I am a father of 6 kids..so been there Sir..

Stupid scooter. So many problems. Going to just wires a switch. That may or may not fix the problem..cause it sounds SLIGHTLY like a bad ground..but VERY much like a short in a hot wire. Ya see the faster you go..the more current is bled from the system when you have a short.. Where is the short? Anybodies guess but I find them mostly in the handlebar switches...or a pinched wire coming from the voltage regulator. If you just cut wires and put in an extra switch...you are still gonna have a short. So check those first.

Hello! I have a Tank 250 touring scooter with the watercooled GY6 style 250 motor. Now I know that the speedometers on these are never right but usually they can ballpark your speed. The problem I am having is that my speedometer hangs instead of falling so every time I accelerate it adds my speed to the previous speed registered. I've looked all over the place but I can't find any information on repairing or replacing the speedometer cables (or sensor?) on these scooters. Anyone come up with a rememdy for this? Also I was going to mount my gps but all the mounts attach to the handlebar which as you all know is not exposed on scooters. Has anyone come up with a good way to mount a gps or Iphone to their scooter? Had the same problem with a Scooter. It is not the cable that causes this..it is the speedometer itself. They are magnetically dampened so the needle returns to zero slowly..vice just dropping quickly. When they go bad the 'hair spring' that returns them to zero is too weak to do so and the needle hangs in place. New cable did not fix the issue..I had to replace the Speedo and all was back to normal. Here is a tip.. ride and watch your odometer..it will continue to log on miles which tells you the cable itself is ok and that the problem lies in the speedo itself. Ax for mounting a GPS..many drill screw holes in the dash panel to install them 'cause like you say the handlebars are covered by body plastics. Myself..I modded a GPS holder so it mounted on the shaft of my mirror. While not as steady and vibration makes it hard to see..if I place one finger on the GPS for a second..it stabilizes it so I can read it.. Hope this helps But I would give a 99% chance the speedo is bad..verify the cable as I mentioned..by watching the odometer. If it logs on miles the cable is working. BUT..the tell tale 'bad speedo' sign is that it hangs up..and sometimes will even swing back and forth as you ride.. Glenn

No fees or any other crap with that regulator I bought it five times for repairs no issue I won't give out bad links only if I have tried it. No sir..not talking about buyer fees.. Seller fees! saying i sell on Ebay..and a 20 dollar item i sold cost me about 4 bux in Ebay and paypal fees. Also not saying the part is junk.. I myself buy many cheap things on Ebay.. They are low price because the vendor buys them in lots of hundreds. I only buy stuff from my wholesaler in lots of a dozen..so my cost is higher. That is all I meant..

Who asks personal information such as..what was the sellers paypal email address...in a public forum? I wonder how much personal info is floating around on here? I ask that no one put any of my personal info out on here nor any other public forum... Just glad it was not my information.. That would be me . Yes I should have pmed him for the info . Can you do better then that price on that regulator , $5 $1.50-2 to ship ebay and paypal fees the cost of packaging fuel to get it to the post office . It happens to be a fancy listing with extra fees I'm sure . Glen Is the question.. can I do better than that price? I would be suspicious of that price because Ebay and paypal..+ shipping cost me almost that much on items smaller than that. Answer is I could not do better. Still I would PM next time.. Reason I say this that paypal is not bullet proof..I was hacked there once..so the claims they make about their super integrity simply are not true in these days of cyber thieves...

I decided to pour gas into where the valves are seated at and I see that it leaks through the intake valve. However for 80 bucks a whole rebuild kit is worth it. I will check with my local scooter place tomorrow to see how much they charge for their parts. (I hate waiting for stuff to come in the mail) If you can watch gasoline flow through the valve while seated..yup..that puppy leaks! Hope they don't charge a lot for parts like they do around my place. They charge just over $400.00 for an 80 BBK install on a GY6 50 engine.. EEK! I charge less than 1/2 that..hmm..

Ok how would I test to see if valves are bad? I know a trick to see if rings are bad and I have done a top end rebuild before but on a 50cc but I'm guessing its pretty much the same. I'm going to retest the compression now that the valves have been re-done. I will report back. less than 100psi is low...surprised it even 'pops' Checking valves for a leak is similar to a compression check..but lots more involved!! You can buy a new head cheaper than the time..parts and labor you'd spend checking the valves. You can take the valves apart by removing them and look for pits or burns around the valve heads and valve seats. But me..I just replace a head..they are cheap. millsc..THAT is a super cheap price for the kit..wow..includes the entire top end. I've paid that much for a head with valves alone!

If you find one and want to get a new key made; Key blanks that have been reported to work; Curtis DC3 Ilco X121 Ilco HD69 HON42 X84 HD74 I have found those to work in the Chinese Sunny...Jonway..TaoTao and others. Taiwanese Scoots like my Adly..the older Baccio and others can use a FiatX99 Key blank or a Yugo key. But ya gotta find them online..cause as we all know..the hardware store folks hear 'Chinese' and say "nope we don't have those" Most won't even let ya look on the rack to find the keys you listed above.. But I do anyway and end up finding them. I guess since they don't know...they assume the customer is dumb as well?..lol. The Taiwanese style FiatX99 and Yugo keys I do have to get online..but for 1/3 of what they charge for regular keys..I won't complain..

I adjusted my valves last night to .003 for both intake and exhaust. However that was at night so the job may have been done poorly to say the least. I will re adjust them in the morning using .004 intake and .005 exhaust as I'm seeing that most folks seem to use that setup. Will Report the the "morn". Great..so if that does not raise compression..we know the opposite of compression in an engine is vacuum..therefore it is not getting fuel/air flow. So rings may be be worn. An intake leak would cause poor fuel/air suction but will not affect your compression...only the vacuum. Piston/rings and a leaky valve will cause both compression and vacuum issues. Since you had to adjust in the dark and plan to recheck them tomorrow..please do keep us informed about what ya find.. Glenn
