As a Paramedic of 30 or so years...I can say I have seen almost as many Seat Belts kill people as not kill people. Had they been able to lay flat as the inverted vehicle slid down the road grinding the top down to nothing...they would have lives. I have seen folks with no Seat Belt thrown from vehicles and killed about as many times as I have seen them thrown from the vehicle which saved their lives. Motor Vehicle accidents are a crap shoot. I have seen people hit by a car at 20mph killed on the spot and last week a guy was hit running across the Interstate by a car traveling 70+mph and he only had bruises and a shattered right leg....still alive. The Law of Physics is not a math equation we can solve and prove our answer as the equation has too many variables. In Michigan the Seat Belt fine is $100. Also if you visit here and get stopped...DO NOT do as habit has taught us and un clip your seat belt and reach for your wallet to get your license. The Officer WILL see you do it as he approaches...but stil say you had no seat belt and issue a citation. You can take the day off work and beat it in court by having they play the dash cam however....showing you un clip after the stop. 2 things I do not like about the seat belt law. 1. I feel them telling me what to do violates my rights. 2. It is a huge revenue resource up here as those 28 years old and older drove for years without one....there was no law...so no seat belt has become habitual to us in nature. The legal system knows this...and counts on this as a source of revenue. But also up here it seems every month a new and ridiculous law is passed over miniscule things...BUT..it becomes a new source of income. Monday I was ticketed at 1:20 p.m. for a head light out....middle of the day! Broad daylight even scooters and motorcycles must have their lights on. Mine has dual head lights and only one was out. Tried to bargain and reason that most all scoots and motorcycles have only one light...I still had a functioning one. No Dice....$75 bux gone..cha ching! She said it was a safety issue to which I replied..." we could have 300watt strobe lights on these things and still get hit...I have MANY near misses cause their cell phone call or finding a good radio station is more important..also look at statistics...there are just as many car/car accidents as there are car/scooter or motorcycle ones" She was actually very polite and attentive..never rude or aggressive...surprised me. Lastly I just wanna say...Why can't the Chinese make a bulb that will last more than 3 months? The 2 most common problems I see daily come to the shop are...burnt bulbs and broken belts....2-4 month old bulbs and 300-500 mile broken Chinese belts. I now use US bulbs and Gates belts for customers...

Finally had some time to do some troubleshooting. AC voltage from the stator went from 107 VAC cold down to 16 VAC when hot. I couldn't get the scooter to loose spark again but from these numbers I have decided to order another coil and go from there. This is a 10 pole stator for reference. Sounds like ya found the problem...surprised ya even got spark at 16 VAC...typically less than 40 VAC on customer scoots and I get nada for spark. Did you check the pickup coil as well? It may not matter though as you should be getting a new pickup coil with your new stator.

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]Ok here is something odd. If I leave the enricher unplugged after engine has sat and is cold....it starts and runs great..really flies. Unlike before with enricher plugged in...where after 2 mins it would lose take off and power... with the enricher unplugged and on all the time...I can ride 20 mines or more without that power and top end loss and the idle remains smooth. Whereas with the enricher connected after a few mins I lose power and take off...and idle is really crappy.. Confused.

So if stock is #40....too bad they don't make a #42 instead of just #45. A jump of 5..say #80 to # is not much on a main jet....but a jump of 5 seems like a lot for that tiny pilot jet. But sent you a PM...I will take the #45...

Here is one I'll bet nobody has tried or seen.. A bit more pricey than the "New Racing" blue ones they sell on Ebay and all over the web. Tried them on many scoots....they don't work. No rev limit of course...but even newer stock black box CDI's no longer have that. The orange stock looking ones have no advance....read close to most web site ads for them..it even says so. The blue "New Racing" CDI's do have advance..but it states they are linear..so what ever advance you get at idle...is ALL you get. So I bought this one in GY6 50 and for my Minarelli 2T. Make a mark on the flywheel and use an inductive timing light...you can see a steady advance curve and I noticed quite a bit more pep!! ;D Where as the orange and "New Racing" ones..I felt nothing. Check this one out and try it...I will never buy another brand again.. www.chinesepartswholesale.com/product_info.php?products_id=67098

[replyingto=skuttadawg]skuttadawg[/replyingto]Kevin..what size comes stock? We can't read either of my scoots..we even cleaned it up and used a magnifying glass.... appears to be 40??could be 30?? Ya just can't read either one. One person told me stock was 42 another told me stock was 40. Have never had any jets come with any 2T or 4T BBK I have installed for myself or a customer. Even the expensive Race Kits did not come with either jet... What kit did you buy that came with a Pilot Jet?

Also performance variators need the proper roller or slider weights. Due to their longer(if it is over size and should be as Walt said above about diameter...performance variators tend to be larger diameter) The variator must be tuned trying different weights as not only is the travel longer....the ramps should be steeper if it is a true performance variator. The steeper ramps need the variator tuned with the proper weights cause if they can't make it up that steeper ramp...you will see no speed gain...

[replyingto=ridecheap]ridecheap[/replyingto]hey..good idea!!! GPS chip...cause of all mine stolen...the Police tell you straight to your face "Sir we do not look for stolen mopeds,Scooters or Motorcycles, if we find it abandoned somewhere we will call you" on one of the Sunny's stolen...I found it. Nobody was home when I knocked. I had the original keys(but did not matter they had punched the lock out) I also had the factory sent MCO in hand....matched the VIN numbers exactly...then called the Police. They told me to get off the property immediately as it had potential for a dangerous situation. So I left and went home. No Officer showed up to get my MCO...called every2 hours that day...still no one showed up at my place or the thieves place. What a dummy the perpetrator was...he only lived just over 1 MILE from me. Thought he would ride it in town and not get noticed? Most likely he was gonna sell it to a person far away I would...unless he really was that stupid.. Regardless after 3 days of non stop calls they never showed up here or there. So I rolled up to an Officer hiding next to the Elementary School in their favorite speed trap. Showed him the MCO...he copied the VIN and said give him an hour. That was 7 a.m....by 7p.m. still nothing. So I call dispatch..and she says..."Sir, can you give us that VIN again, and I will get someone out there" Well been 18 months and still nothing. The guy lives right across the street from our Doctors office..and one day 2 mos. my gf went for an appointment. She used her cell phone and video recorded them put it in a truck and drive north out of town. Another phone call..and yup...you guessed it...STILL nobody showed up.

I'm in the process of saving up for a scooter and I got to thinking. At around 300 pounds, is there any likelihood that a couple of guys could just load it up on the back of a truck and drive away? Is that a rational fear? While on the subject, does anyone have any advice on how to prevent theft? Security devices, general practices, where to avoid parking your scoot. Things like that. I used to sell scoots...now I just do parts/repair. I had 5 brand new ones stolen in one year...3 one spring then three the next. The first 2 they used bolt cutters on the shop door lock...it had a Hasp&Latch but was only 30 feet from the house so we could see and hear anything going on. Went to Wal Mart and came back...they were gone..wheeled away leaving tracks and footprints in our dirt driveway. I used to set them out by the road...use a disk brake lock and heavy chain to secure them to a tree. When one of the three was stolen I was outside 200' feet away(we gotta long dirt driveway) Busy fixing a customers exhaust bolts I was laying on the ground. They must have perused the scoots a few times cause they were prepared with bolt cutters. Whole thing took them less than 10 seconds in broad daylight! Driver snipped the chain.....2 other boys picked it up and slid it in the trunk..a Varooom! Off they went. Tried to chase them down..but too late...long gone. One of the other new ones for sale.. stolen from the front of our house was disk brake locked and chained..even had the alarm set. I was sitting 50 yards behind the house Squirrel hunting and heard the alarm...sprinted my out there gun still in hand. I got there in a flash cause I am a runner...(3 miles in 16:45)..but they were gone. Alarms do NOTHING!!! All 5 of my neighbors said they heard it..but did not even look out the window cause in town..."We hear them damn alarms going off all the time for no reason".... Bottom line still lock it...use an alarm..when in town park it in a very visible spot and secure it well at home. MORAL OF THE STORY: When a thief is bent on stealing something the honestly is REALLY nothing you can do. Also 'Booby Trapping' is illegal! I found out the hard way. My car was broken into..so I took speaker wire and connected it to 2 Estes Rocket igniters...then to a pack of 50 firecrackers after first connecting the wires to my dome light and closing all doors. Figured it would scare the poop outta them. I showed the Officer when he arrived and was made to remove it as he watched. Reason being....if it startles the thief and he trips or takes off and runs into something or is injured in any way during his crime...we can be sued for his injuries.Huh? What a crock of !!!

As many of you know our Minarelli's come come with a TK brand carb. Main Jets are easy to find as they use the VM11/22 style. According the many blogs I've read...even the Yamaha Scoots and smaller motorcycles come with the TK carb. I cannot find a resource for pilot jets for these things...not even Yamaha as they carry is the stock pilot jet. After reading the many blogs..probably % or better of the folks said they complained and would never buy Yamaha again. So Yamaha needs to wake up and provide a lil customer service....or they are gonna lose business. I find it odd they would use a Mikuni type clone..but apparently Yamaha is looking for a bigger profit margin Anyway I have read posts here where folks have increased or decreased the Pilot Jet size on their TK carbs and I am bewildered as to where they found the TK style Pilot Jets. If ANYBODY here has resource...PLEASE let me know. As I said I even contacted 3 Yamaha shops...they say yes their older scoots....50 80 100cc kids backyard type dirtbikes and their 200 and 250cc Enduro bikes use TK carbs...BUT they only carry and can get the stock size Pilot Jets for them. Thanks in advance for any help.. Glenn, aka...Yayiima benatigee

They are my local parts place. I'm there a couple times a month. They are legit. They're not very technical (it's not a repair shop) so you need to know what you want. They generally keep pretty good stock. If you call they will go get the part and describe it. I've even gotten them to exchange photo texts. They're really nice but they only have so much info to offer. peace bb Heya..you are nearby them..awesome. Also thanks for the input. One of my wholesalers in China is like that....none are Tech's...they just pull..pack and ship parts. But with a few kind words they will get the item...describe it and send a better pic. Shelly at scrappydogs is the same way...not a tech..but she will pull a part...describe it...measure it..weigh it and anything thing else I request. They are good people at scappy's..
