I would go with the CR8HIX..it is a much cooler plug and the 50mm BBK's tend to run hot.. The 7 range pugs do ok for stock engines..but I see lots of BBK's overheat with them due to the higher compression ration of the larger cylinder and power they produce.. Glenn

Cheapest fix..AND works the best.. Cost is 2 bux! This what I did until I fixed the blow by issue. Take a $2.00 8 oz.Hamster water bottle from wal mart..bore a hole in the bottle bottom to allow gases to vent.. Fill bottle with steel wool..but DO NOT pack it in tight or the air will not flow. Pop out the check ball in the tube at the bottom or saw the tip off to remove it. Use NO CHECK VALVE or it will prevent oil back flow into engine. The steel wool acts to catch the oil..cool it and hold it in the bottle..so at idle..low speeds or when shut off..the pressure being lower..the oil will drain back into engine. The vent hole on the bottles bottom allows built up gases to pass through. Run just a hose from the valve cover vent to the nipple on the bottle and attach it up on the frame above engine level..about seat height.with Zip Ties. Now your blow gas escapes the hole in the bottle and the oil is trapped in the bottle then recycled.. Looks too easy huh? Well on the old scootdawg site I posted this...many many tried it..it worked and they ridded themselves of the problem without some expensive oil catch can and check valve.. Here is a pick below. Ok can't post a pic without an offline photo account and link..this gets annoying..I can post on other sites.. Ok..let me try this..here is a link to my same post on another forum WITH a nice pic.. Agree with all of the above.. EVEN if it is a new BBK..they only time I have seen oil come from the vent tube is when the engine has blow by. Those vent kits they sell are just a Band-Aid for an underlying problem....that being piston ring blow by. For 12 bux you can buy a 'special' check valve for the blow by..it allows air out instead of in. BUT the problem is not air being sucked into the vent..it is from pressure in the crank case. That 'special' Scooter check valve is nothing more than a $2.99 Chrysler PCV Valve btw..that you can get at any auto parts store. Oil blow by indicates piston ring blow by and is common on the GY6 150 engine when the ring seat is bad. When it is to the point it blows engine seals..you REALLy have an issue that needs to be fixed..vice covered with a PCV Valve Band-Aid.... Glenn

2012 TaoTao T3 crank question.. By experience does anyone know what crank these use before I tear it all apart to find out. Would it be the 16 tooth or 22 tooth oil pump gear? Thanks, Glenn

Remote start/shutoff and alarm. Surprised it runs as many factory installed systems need a jumper plug made for them if you unplug the alarm. Otherwise it keeps it from starting. Oh well leave it off..the battery will live longer as those things suck juice even when in the 'disabled' setting..

Come on guys this is not rocket science the Diagram I put up is the way they go in the ramps. Alleyoop Maybe this will help you guys: I 100% concur! This is how they go. I have tried both ways just for fun. Installed the other way..you have a Rocket take off..as the rpm's stay almost at a constant scream.. all the way up to top speed.( in one case about 9,000 rpm while cruising at 40mph) If installed correctly you feel a gentle 'shift' as the elliptical shape of the sliders transitions into a higher ratio..and better use the powerband of the engine. Then at high speed and high ratio..the rpm's settle a bit so you are not over revving..yet your speed and ability to accelerate remains much better. @alley..due to the economy can you take a post dated check for my 2 cents? I earned a Nickle last week..but the Gubment taxed me 6 cents on that income..so I still owe them a penny.. Glenn

Search no more for quality..great service and low pricing!! I have been doing business with this company since they began in a Garage sized building over 10 years ago. They have grown to a large Warehouse and stock lots of high quality items at remarkable parts. I know them all personally and see the customer service they offer daily. I have 'user tested' many of their parts and have yet to find any that were not top notch! Tell them Glenn sent ya!..and no I won't gt a discount for it.. But you will get some real bargains..low cost and speedy shipping!! My bad..forgot the link..he here it is.. www.scooter-atvparts.com/

Awesome, that is what I figured but I wanted to be sure before I defile my rare & near mint 10 year old Derbi!!! I read somewhere there is a way to derestrict the stock pipe so I'll probably get adventurous with an angle grinder and drill some day. Really appreciate the 2T advice carasdad. Same here..did not want to mess up my Adly..now sold by Lambretta. So i did 'hidden' performance mods so it looks stock..but still rocks! hey 56mph GPS is not too shabby I don't think.. Cruising at 45-50 is easy and comfy and tach shows just below 8k..right at 7.5k so my engine is not screaming away like a chainsaw..

I've already decided I'm going to get a BBK for my Derbi GP1 but I like the reliability and sound of the stock intake/exhaust and performance carbs are very expensive for this motor. Because I do not plan to modify or replace the intake or exhaust I am not expecting major speed gains, but would like to realize some extra torque. Will I still see a benefit with a 70cc or even 90cc BBK with just rejetting the carb? Would I be "starving" the engine of air and potentially hurting anything? I run a stock carb and airbox on mine..and just recently upgraded to a performance pipe. It ran great all stock expect the BBK. Just make sure you upjet!! Or it WILL run too lean. You will notice a definite performance gain..but if you later add a pipe..the BBK will really turn on the speed and power.. P.s. a Stock 19mm carb is more than plenty for even a mid to high grade BBK. Those that use larger carbs are typically building an all out race type machine..

Yeah my frame is in the way I can't even get a socket in there to remove the valve cover. I'll try this method when its valve adjustment time. Chris..I worked on a Puma that was like that..could not even get a wrench under there.. So I looked at it a for a minute and thought hmm.. Maybe if I drop the shock it will work. Bingo! A lucky guess turned out to be a blessing..and no more engine removal..

Wanna know an easier way than pulling the motor to adjust valves?? Like some of the Znen scoots the frame is in the way.. Soo..what ya do. Put it on the center stand. Remove the lower shock mount nut and push the shock back out of the way. Push down the side stand..then roll the scoot forward until it rests on the side stand. The head of the engine will now drop down about 10 inches lower...and guess what? Now you can get to the head really easy...so far and so easy you have enough room now to do a BBK. Which is how I do a BBK on Scoots like that. I NEVER pull the whole engine. Total time involved when I adjust a customers valves this way.. 5 mins vice 30-45 mins to drop the engine.. Glenn

Yes Glen , I prefer to sell it as a set as it has been tested as a set . I can ship with confidence knowing all parts are working and playing together well in the sand box . John Makes sense to me.. I tests my parts before I ship them. Well not BBK's..roller/Slider weights..Springs etc. But the 11 pole stator should really help the very anemic electrical system on the 50cc scoots. Especially for folks that want to use Stereos and other accessories..
