Let's use a lil common sense...or at least try. Ok if an engines compression is so high you can't kick start or electric start it..SOMETHING is wrong!! So why would you want to force something to turn over when obviously there is a problem. It could be...hmmm...aha! The compression is TOO HIGH!! I am watching this post closely..cause in 2 of the other forums I belong to...there were several people with compression so high they could not start the engine. But they were finally successful jumping them from car and lawn tractor batteries. Successful to the point that they snapped or bent the connecting rod anyway..once the engine fired up. Why would you want to force something that obviously has a problem that needs to be fixed first? If one of the windows in your house was hard to open...would you use a sledge hammer to force it open..or would you figure out why it is so hard to open? You NEED to bring the compression down...bottom line. But then again...what do I know..I have only had a Scooter parts/repair shop for 9 years and work on them daily. I also specialize in high performance builds for customers. Get a nice sturdy box for your engine parts...yer gonna need one when you grenade the engine. Oh and when you do...please post pics. Thanks..

I wouldn't worry about the high compression cause with a 51.5mm BBK your crank bearings will most likely be shot at about 1,000 miles. At my shop I have yet to see one come in that didn't. The 50mm..51.5mm and 52mm pistons weigh TWICE what the stock 39mm does..and the crankshaft counterweights are not balanced for that extra weight. Reason why folks with those super huge BBK's feel more vibration from their engine. Plain and simple the rotating weights of the crankshaft are not heavy enough to offset the reciprocating (up and down) weight of the piston. This causes the engine to rotate as unbalanced as a cheap $20.00 Ceiling Fan does.. Enjoy the very few miles you will get out of the engine..hope it is fun while it lasts...

If this is a 150cc... I have had 3 customers have the exact same thing happen to them. We found it to be blown/worn piston rings. A compression test showed the compression way low(100-110 psi)...at which point we put a few drops of oil in the plug hole...cranked it and compression went up just under 40 psi. A quick cylinder hone and a new set of rings...they were back on the road. Allow me to explain the reason for the symptoms you have and the customers had...as many understand that blown/worn rings would just lower compression and power. If we look at how an engine operates we see that there is compression for the power..on the upstroke. HOWEVER!! What do we have on the downstroke?.. Vacuum...that is what draws the air/fuel mixture into the cylinder. Therefore the low compression from poorly sealing piston rings gives a decrease in power on the upstroke and the loss of vacuum on the downstroke creates an erratic air/fuel flow which causes your erratic running. My advice..check your compression..post it here for folks and we will go from there. 140-150psi is good...with 160-170psi being on the high side..but it is still within range and will produce a bit more power. Glenn

Hello Glenn. I wanted to point out that Adly is not owned by Lambretta. They were a company that was purchasing from Adly for some time, but they have no ownership stake over them. As far as Adly having a new US distributor, this is true. We were just named the exclusive distributor for Adly in the USA and will be the only company representing the Adly name in the USA. The Adly scooters are great quality and just to make them better, we made approximately fifteen upgrades on the Bullseye model which has been available in the USA for some time now. Most of the improvements are improving the fit and finish and standard features. We also will be bringing in the GTA 50, which has never been offered in the USA before. Both of the initial 49cc unit offerings will have two stroke motors. All of our units will have two year unlimited mile warranties complete with two years of Roadside Assistance. The Adly brand has been around for quite some time and has a great quality track record. We are pleased to be representing this brand exclusively in the United States. The first shipments will be arriving in late April / Early May and we will have updated pictures and specifications posted on our website within the next few weeks. We've been signing up dealerships for the initial dealership offering for the last two weeks and the first orders are already almost sold out. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you all have and we'll be posting more information on our website in the coming weeks. I am looking for a new Adly..but I see them nowhere on your site.. You no longer a dealer for them?... Glenn

I accidentally installed my bbk piston rings upside down and want to get it right How do you know...or what makes you think you installed them upside down? Is this a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine? Describe the issues you are having that leads you to believe you installed them upside down..and we could better assist you. In any case..if the rings have markings on them...them markings face upwards. Give us more info and we will be able to help ya better....

Try this.. turn the key on but do not start the scoot. Check your horn..turn signals and brake light and see if they work better. Also check the battery voltage ac and dc with the key on and the engine not running.(Of course battery should not show ANY AC..running or not running..but we had one that did) Then start the engine and do the same..and.. Tell us what ya find..as I just went through this on a customer Scoot a few weeks ago and found the issue.. When the scooters not running but in the on position everything works and sounds fine, voltages read normal no ac. When the scooters running everything works fine sounds fine, weak but brighter headlight and the battery drains. I unplug the battery and everything electrical is weak including gauges and I only get around 6vdc and an ac current. Ok..now try this.. Unplug your power wire to your ignition coil so that no current is getting to it. Then crank the engine(of course it won't start and run..we don't it to) Crank the engine and see what type of voltage ya now get. I had this happen a few weeks ago and found that RFI from the coil was going to ground and messing up my voltage to everything. Lights were dim..signals would not flash..stator voltage was all over the place and the R/R voltage was low and intermittent. Quick and simple test..let us know if you see any changes.. Glenn

Glenn, First Semper Fi, I'm near your age and served 82-91. I've responded to your post in other forums and am well versed in electronics compliments of the USMC. I had no clue to an answer to your electrical problem, but I thank you for your solving it. I too have a Adly, mine is a silverfox and I too have electrical gremlins. This perticular bike is low priority due to the other bikes I ride. Keep posting they are not in vain. Semper Fi my brother and welcome home. Dec 1982-July 2003 myself. I apologize for my retort here. I am well versed in Scooterology..but it seems as though Gremlins put me through a test as I find the oddest issues that others do no encounter. I am starting to think that when I was in Taiwan..the Chinese planted a chip in me so they could use me as their QC person....cause we all know that China + QC is as much of a joke as our Politicians..in that the claim one thing and the do opposite...lol The RFI from the coil and non resistor plug was an anomaly that my Dad would have figured out. But all his Electronics teaching as an Electronics Engineer..I tuned out... as we all tune out our parents as teens. I had a chance to learn from him..and I chose not to. What Gremlins does your Adly have? We can solve this.. Btw did you know that Lambretta now sells the Adly line? yeah even the Italian have gone Taiwanese...

I am a retired Combat Medic and a Nurse..I am not a mechanic nor do I have a degree in electronics.. My deceased father was the Electronics Engineer..omg!! Do you think all his talks about Ohms law..and all his electronics teachings reached me?. I never listened to him..can we learn by proxy??..

Wow, thanks for enlightening all of us. I'm not sure I would ever have figured that one out without the help of someone with a BSEE. Lost me...what is a BSEE? Still confused...

I can't post pics on this site..so here is a link with a lengthy evaluation and write up that includes pics...I am very certain many had this before and replaced the Stator and R/R yet still had the issue.. I was shocked to find it as I had never seen this... Here is a link from my handle on another site. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/8690/minarelli-migraineEnjoy, Glenn

Found the problem and got the electrical system fixed.. Runs and works great now.. Oddest issue I have ever run across. Makes me wonder how many others have had or will have this issue occur and think it is the Stator..Regulator or a dead short...and end up replacing parts they never needed...
