So 2 days ago I purchased a 50cc (gy6) 2008 Lance Charming with only 230 miles on it for $300. Obviously it wasn't running hence the cheap price, but I checked the thing out and everything was in good shape and I knew I could bring it back to life. I have tuned/checked out just about everything on the scoot and somehow cant get it to run right still.
Things I have done to it are:
-drained old fuel and checked fuel filter (in tank and on fuel line) replaced with new gas -new fuel lines and fuel filter -tested fuel petcock for proper fuel flow -new vacuum hose from petcock to intake manifold -torn apart whole carb multiple times cleaned all jets and all passages -adjusted A/F ratio screw every which way as well as idle screw -checked diaphragm in carb for tears -tried taking out spacers above needle in carb (didnt help) -tested auto choke for proper operation -adjusted valves -set spark plug gap -fresh oil -checked for vacuum leaks
I believe this is everything I have done but Im sure I have left out something..
Anyway, so after all this work I have done to the scooter it still runs funky. With everything assembled, I can start the scooter easily and it runs and idles great, if I give it too much throttle too fast itll bog a little bit. If i get on it and start riding I can get only to about 20mph and it bogs and wants to die. After a bunch of testing the only way I can get it to run well is if i remove the whole air box and intake tube. With those removed the scooter runs great and it eliminates all problems and goes about 35mph. Even if i just leave the intake tube on with no air box it still bogs I dont know why. The only way it will not bog is if its sucking air straight through the carb. Also, after running like this I pulled the plug and it was clean and nothing was on it, im guessing this means its running really lean which is bad?
So i dont know where to go from here and i really need any help anyone can offer!! Thanks!!
