Replaced woodruff key. Made it work. And reset timing. Ran completely different. Idle higher, spitting gas and back firing out of carb. Replaced carb. Runs good now. Thanks for your help tortuous.

Woodruff did shear. Ordered a new one. Not sure if it's going to work though. The slot on crank is washed out on one side. Sounds like I'll need new crank. Or spot weld the key to crank. Any suggestions?

Ok I think you solved my issue. Piston at top-dead-center. Am off my timing mark by about 2". The woodruff key is on the stator side engine correct?

Ok, benched check the slide in carb to see if it worked. It does. Benched Checked the electronic choke, it works. Retimmed the cam to the flywheel. Adjusted the valves. Took off exhaust to make sure that wasn't clogged. It was wasn't. Once again pored gas down cylinder. No combustion. Has plenty of spark. Still only barely idle between 1/2 and 3/4 throttle. Oh has 135lbs compression. What else can it be? Gonna order new carb and cdi just to make sure. Any more ideas would be great.

Am not even sure how the carb slide works. I know it's vaccum activated. There's no cable going to it.

So you think it's mechanical then, and not a electric safety thing? Diapham on carb was good, no holes. havent checked valves. Not sure what to check for on that yet. carb slide does not move when running or by pressing throttle. I take it it works off of vaccum. the intake does have a vaccum hose that is only 2" long and nothing going to it. For the life of me I can't seem to see where it should go. No spot on the carb for vaccum hose. And fuel pitcock is a gravity style, no spot for a vaccum hose there either. I tried to plug the hose coming off intake, but no difference with it plugged or unplugged. I bought this quad as it sits. The guy said it ran and then just started acting up. But thinking that wasn't very truthful...lol. far as I know it could have wrong carb on it or missing parts. But the 2" intake vaccum line had caught my interest right from the get go, but I'm still lost. If it were a 2 stroke engine, I wouldn't be as lost.

Have this atv with the 4 stoke 50cc engine danzo stringer50. Problem am having is...it will only slow idle with the throttle at least halfway pushed in. Dosent matter if I spray starting fluid in carb or done head. Only a slow idle no matter what. Things ive done so far cleaned carb. Getting plenty of gas in carb. new plug took of remote control kill switch.(just unplugged from wiring harness) checked for loose wiring. Not sure where to look next. Sounds like a safety issue. Because there is zero throttle response, no rise in rpms no matter what I do....or New carb? new cdi box? any help would be awesome! Thanks
