The relay either switches the power to the horn and would have power going constantly to one of the leads on the contacts or it is switching the ground so that you would have power going into the horn. You can check this with a cheap volt meter. If you get power to the relay and horn and its not sounding then you may need a new horn otherwise you have to follow the power back to each connection until you find where it has been interrupted. OK, thanks for that! when she gets home I'll hook up the V/meter, after I take the dash apart again I bought a new horn yesterday, if that's not the problem it'll end up on my scooter This is turning out to be more of a headache than imagined, the way it's been with everything on that darn car. Especially electrical ghosts.

I've seen the ones with switchable settings, mine doesn't have it. Could be the cable, I have it adjusted so there's as little play as possible before the throttle opens. will check on that. It would be good/great to get my ride idling at the right, or closer to it. I always thought it was running too fast when I had 1500 idle on the little one.

hillbillybob My factory idle spec is supposed to be 1500rpms... Do you think it sounds fast? I've got the idle speed out not even touching and it reads 1080 on the little one- twice that on the digi. After my last few rides it seems the little one is good up to 2500, and the the digi one is good from there on. 55mph flat road, 6200rpms and it sounded like 6200, not the 3150 the little one indicates. I've ordered a different type, I want a tach. that works. Maybe I'll have to spend more than 10 bucks tho.

Way more fun ridin than wrenchin.... Once I needed to mow the lawn but had no gas other than 40;1 weed-eater gas. My mower NEVER ran the same after that.

I would stay with the manufacturers recommendation. Especially in warmer climate. Maybe the shaking is from something else? Oh yea, mines got many many miles on it and it shakes pretty good. Single cylinder motors just have vibration.
