take a paper clip flatten the end of it and slid it in the connector to release the locking tab it will be a little tricky but it works

a dc relay will work just fine I have one from a car in my system with no problems

yea you have a good understanding of the system if you look in the tech section Jr has a howto for this

I would suggest after putting a few more miles on it you to pull the valve cover check the valves chain and make sure you are getting enough oil to the top end
