Well I had my teenage son call one of his friends in town to see if it had snowed overnight (we live like 15 miles away and there was no snow at my house). They said no. They were wrong... It wasn't a lot of snow, and I have ridden in the snow before but, never when the snow wasn't still falling and never when the temp was below freezing (it was 14 when I left the house). I was quite surprised that it felt ok I didn't slip once. There was a 8 mile ride with out snow before I hit the snowy areas. Apparently the tire heated enough to melt the snow because if you look close you see water has dripped off the front tire and it totally shouldn't when the temp is less than 20. Now I know this was a bad idea but, I was already most of the way there by the time it got real bad and the bike felt fine. The moral of the story is don't trust a teenager...

Cats are not allowed in my yard ever. My dogs make sure. I wouldn't sand the seat try just adding decent vinyl restorer to see of it won't help close the damage.

After my recent crash in regular hiking boots that resulted in a painful twisting/smashing of my ankle and near complete destruction of my shoe from abrasion. I bought armored motorcycle boots at Cyclegear. They zip up snug, are waterproof, and were on sale for about $40. I won't ride in anything else any more.

10 hours solid in the seat for 8 days will wreck you I have done some iron butt tours and they aren't for everyone I wouldn't do it on a Chinese scooter, but I'm not you. Personally taking off on a machine that you need to bring an extra engine for to be sure you'll make it is kind of crazy. I would happily eat my words if you do make it though...
