lain... I'm surprised you are still riding a 2 stroke. With the amount of knowledge and experience you have, I thought you would have upgraded to a 150cc. With the mods and upgrades everyone talks about here, my 150cc can easily cruise at 45mph with traffic. And still have extra power to zip by a stupid cage driver when needed. Riding a 50cc would completely frustrate me.

The TaoTao Powermax 150cc. I know this cycle inside and out! Enjoy helping people get the most out of scooting and understanding the bike! Any problems? How to set up and assemble a new scoot, easy mods, and proper maintenance. This aftermarket model GY6 motor is made extremely well. Made this scoot my masters dissertation in mechanical engineering. How to get 80mph, ram air intake, cheap turbo alternatives. Anything you can think of I can most likely help you. It is VERY smart to correctly unpack, assemble and break in your scoot properly. Before you start, talk to me!!! Now get off your and scoot!!!! Turbo? You have peaked my interest. Please explain more. And welcome to the forum.

mftic... If you have an adjustable needle on your carburetor have you tried adjusting it? Moving it one slot to leaner should fix the hesitation at 1/2 throttle.

Oh, sure, Jar', get sensible on us, spoil our extravagance here. Hey joey, don't listen to Jar'. He's being a fuddy. You KNOW you want more lights. And horns. Like ricardo said, you can never have too many horns. (warning, going to get naughty here) Or would that be you can never get too horny? >'Kat I don't know about that many horns, but I do remember a few months back seeing a loud horn posted here that is easily exchanges for the stock. I'm also thinking about installing some ground effect Colored LED lights. Since my drive to work is at midnight, some extra visibility wouldn't help. I would put them on a toggle switch so during the day they won't run.

Do you have a multimeter? If you do, what is the reading with the scooter off?

It should, unless your battery is going dead.
And what was the last work you had done on it? I had a similar problem, turned out I forgot to reconnect the ground wire that connects to the valve cover.

Sounds like a weak battery. Have you tried charging your battery?

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I like the idea of having two batteries. It's just finding a mounting spot for the second one.

JoeyBee I suppose since I ride almost everyday leaving it on wouldn't be an issue. Then I could block that vacuum port! That's what I was thinking also. I'm a fan of simplicity. At that point the only vacuum operated part would be the carburetor.

beenriding... Same here. I have one on my ATV and its always a pain in the butt when I forget to turn it on. That's one of the reason why I haven't switched over yet. Others here have switched and say they just constantly leave it on and rely on the carb float to prevent overfilling.
