I like the rukus clone. My only issue is I like the storage on my bike.... The ruckus clones I've looked at don't have a whole heck of a lot of storage.

How the heck do you change the instrument cluster lights in a Verano 150? It's one of the retro scooters. I took the cluster (more like pods) apart tonight and I can't see how to change the light in my gas gauge. Is it time to change the whole cluster (other then the speedo)?
On the same thought... I have a battery/charge gauge on the bike, how hard would it be to swap that out for one that has the high beam/turn indicator pod? I do have a 50cc parts bike that has one, would it plug into the harness?
Also, I have a warped rear wheel after a blow out (two in one week, the scooter shop didn't get the valve stem in right, at least they gave me a new tire and stem and didn't charge me).... the second time around it warped the wheel.. i'm kinda pissed but at least I didn't dump the bike. I was doing about 45 both times it blew and both times I managed to keep the bike upright.
So if anyone has a 10" wheel for the rear of a 150cc short case that matches my front, please drop me a line. My bike is up in the banner. I'm picky about my bike but I'm getting ready to sell it and I want it to be as near perfect as it can be because I don't want to sell someone a piece of junk.

That really a cool looking bike... it's a shame it's giving you grief.... I bet it has a bad starter solenoid...

Neat trick with the hair spray, I'll try that one.

We have vapor recovery nozzles here in california... I don't know about other states... here it's a real pain... you have to pull back the rubber boot, then you can pull the trigger... Takes me about 2 minutes to pump in 1 gallon of fuel while bending over in an awkward position....

Yup, those scoots are fun to do valve adjustments on... LOL Looks like you are well on your way tho. If you want a little pep, I think the best bang for the buck is a 115mm variator (hoca makes a nice one for cheap, like 25 bucks or something) It even comes with 12gram weights (that probably has 14 or 15's).... With the Hoca unit you use your drive face and sliding dowel but on my 10" scoot it made a huge difference. It's a great place to start and you will see more performance then adding exhaust, intake and all that jazz and it's a of alot easier to tune, you won't have to re-jet for example. The Variator really wakes these scoots up!
I love air cooled 150 gy6's. they are just so simple and pretty bullet proof if taken care of!

Nice scoot... quick question, are the Kyco's clones engine wise or do they use their own design. I know they are high quality but engine wise I was just wondering if they used a high quality clone motor or did there own thing.

Guys,
I just had a rear blow out and it bent the wheel slightly on my 150. It is ride-able but, I'm not a happy camper. In my garage, I have a 50cc with a good rear wheel and tire.
They are both 10" wheels with integral brake drums. Can I swap them?

awesome little scoot.... it looks like it's great shape.... is it air cooled or a water pumper.... I thought all the 150's were air cooled (it might be a 250)

Bang for buck wise, coils rarely make a difference unless it's a high perf engine turning insane rpm (11k or better). More bang for the buck in tuning the variator. CDI's usually have a static setting, very few of them actually have an advance curve even though they are advertised as having one. (Ali just reviewed one that actually does and that might be something you look into)... If a CDI actually has an advance curve that's correct for the scooter, it should actually start easy. That is something Ali mentioned, that the one he reviewed started easy, he tried it because he was having starter "kick backs" with his other aftermarket CDI. How much extra power he got from it is hard to say. Theoretically it should be good for some more horse power in the mid and upper range of the torque curve but the scooter would differently need to be tuned so you don't run into pre-ignition.
The only reason I'd upgrade a coil is if, one it needed to be replaced and the aftermarket was cheaper, or two, I had high rpm misfire and I knew the jetting was close to right.

sounds like a couple of things.... Is your tank in the floor of the scoot? I have a 150 that I run open throttle alot and even with a mukini fuel pump it will sometimes starve (on overpasses at full throttle mostly). Do a valve adjustment, replace the fuel and vacuum line (take a piece of each to the parts store) and fuel filter. When you replace the fuel and vacuum lines, keep them short leaving just a little extra (maybe 1" or so) so if need be you can cut an end off but no too long, as this effects vacuum supply to the pump. Fuel lines that are too long can cause fuel foaming and vapor lock. Remember, Manifold pressure rises when the throttle is all the way open (closer to atmospheric pressure) and you will have little or no vacuum for the pump. One technique and a way to trouble shoot the problem is to find the hill that makes it act up and run up it hard but then open and close the throttle slowly and then see if it makes it up the hill that way.
Another thing I've noticed is if the belt starts to wear of all things, my scooter does it more often. I think it's because it has to work harder so it uses more fuel. A fresh belt also seems to help MPG and top speed. So keep that in mind if you have a cheap chinese belt in the scooter.
Then after everything is done.... get some chicken bones.... and a voodoo doll... and say some magic incarnations, while waving a feather over the scooter because sometimes working on these scooters, you need to know magic.

crossin fingers it's in the variator or belt cause that's an easy, cheap fix. Has the bike been on it's side for any reason? I've seen them have the timing chain slip off the guide shoes, but that's really, really rare... almost to being freakish but it was after the bike had been dumped.
