OK, I get that you have done this many times, but normally when soemthing like this happens it's because we have forgotten some dumb little thing and finally smack ourselves in the forehead when we figure it out.
Since you didn't post photos, suggest you look into the thread just below this (now titled "tranny gears: Martin's Superfast ..."). The
NEXT TO THE LAST
video on the last page (I think) is a really good, simple walk thru on adjusting valves - would get that forehead smack going.

Love these videos, but a common problem with scooter videos is they don't show the actual work being done. Description and talk through, then cut to a finished install of the part, no showing the tricks used to actually put the parts together. Most likely it's due to the difficulty of holding a camera, just my own little pet peeve. It's too bad you didn't actually watch the videos, then. Martin's had the camera on a tripod and showed the process, almost without a break. Unless I didn't correctly understand your comment ....

FedX truck just passed Salina, Utah ..... delivery Wednesday.
Dan suggested the oil cooler bolted to the flywheel fan .... I'm gonna see if there is a less conspicuous place since I'd like this to look stock.

By pm to Dm. Theres allot of redundant measurements and components to be inspected and recorded, Cylinder Prep, many are Room #101 stuff just gets stuffy including all this in a vid. Probably measure a couple hundred 60 and 61mm ring gaps and will all be .011 as seen in my pics. Same with 62-63mm Ummm So, relax and shut up, it's all good .......... ?

Wait! P-guy, you are the resident expert on this. Are you saying it is NOT important to check ring gap when installing a new piston/jug? I forgot to on my first BBK, and always suspected the fit was too tight, leading to the soft seize I had 800 miles later. Is that wrong, and checking the gap (and adjusting it) isn't really important? I'm Jackin with joisey. Dan and I have already discussed this earlier today. www.dansgaragetalk.com/topic/254-61mm-pistons-taida-cast-vs-ncy-cast-vs-taida-forged-high-comp/I was gunna go over it but we/I covered this more in depth in the above. I might add with the Piston to Cylinder Clearance and how it relates to different Ring end Gaps. If I have .0018 piston to cylinder and .030 (wow) end gap in a 2.250 bore can't show me nuthin on a leak down, psi or dyno. Now .005 Piston to Cylinder and I have .030 gap is a Slightly different story. Other than too tight sand the ends butting together it is a Very Much Over Rated Subject. P-Guy ~~~~ that was one of the more interesting conversations i remember ever seeing here. Thanks~! Didn't understand it all, but learned a lot The link seemed to end on 8/31, but you said you & Dan spoke today? I was going to ask him about this (it's the one part of the build he didn't video), but don't want to be insulting. Should I msg him or is it OK on my build? Or do you know?

Just watched the last video and he never mentioned anything about ring end gap and clocking,,the end gap is super important especially on the compression rings...Im sure he did it just saying Enlighten us. Big gap? how big? small gap? how small? Are you asking Joisey, or is that for Martin's?

I suppose it's worth asking about, just to make sure. Easy enough for me to take the head off and do so if by some chance this got skipped, though I can't imagine it was. But worth asking about just as an insurance policy. Peretty neat watching the build, huh!
