When you make the change to dc lights recheck your charging voltage. Yes , I will def recheck charging . I'm thinking I shouldn't have a problem keeping in up with charging. I won't have the lights running during the day , just at night , and its not like I'll be riding for hours at night. Even though , I'm still hoping for enough power to run the lights for as long as I'd like , especially with the h4 55/60 watt bulbs. You're free to do as you wish, but I can tell for 100% fact that if you try running two of those of those lights, you're going to burn up either your R/R or Stator itself. The R/R itself is only 10 AMMP max current R/R... That's 140 wats, assuming you can pull off 14 volts... However, I'm not sure if the 6 pole stator can even produce that many watts and if it does, it's running at absolute max capacity and will eventually fry. Also, if anyone reads this thread and see's Geh is bypassing the AC circuit for the lights and going to power them from DC... You can only do this IF you have the black wire being discussed in this thread....

I too give a nod to a Gates Powerlink Kevlar belts. I wouldn't even consider buying a different brand.

So went to go for a test drive scooter started right up, let it warm up a little bit, hop on and start to leave, get out the driveway go to give some gas and it just bogs down, anything over 1/4 throttle, thought I had it adjusted right, bring it back home, go to adjust the carb, no change no matter how much I turn it unless I close it then the scooter dies. So pull the carb off put my old one on, start to richen it up rpms go up, 1/4 turns waiting 10 sec then another 1/4 turn, gets to just where the back tire starts to move and doesnt seem to raise rpms when I richen a little more, so turn back 1/8 turn, hop on to go for a ride is better but anything over 1/2 throttle and it bogs, no popping just falls on its face, let off and will pick back up. Hoping my problem isnt going to be like the motor you opened that was 2deg off on timing, dmartin95edit: I did check the valve lash and it was right. Well, that's a bummer.... Part of checking the valves is putting it in time.... You have to bring your piston to TDC to set your valve lash... If the two little holes in cam sprocket do not perfectly align with the top of the head, when you put the flywheel on the T, it's not timed correctly. You need to clarify.. did you actually check your valve lash with your scooter in time?

Wow...Yep, you got an oil leak for sure.... ... That's the worst I've ever seen. I've seen gasket leaks before, but never one like that....

So fired it up today, let her warm up, drained the oil and gear oil replaced with fresh, started to make sure was full, and got hit in the face with foamy oils as I opened the fill tube. Long story short had forgot to take the breather tube from valve cover and attach to air cleaner, came attached to the vent tube from cvt. Thought I had a problem drained the oil started to put fresh in and still having problem. Moved the breather tube problem went away. Was going to take for a small cruise but started to sprinkle so tarped the scooter and will try for the test ride in a couple hours if it dries up. Sweet! Can't wait to hear the results of the test ride! Last night I tore down the top half of one these TMS engines... Valve lash was set correctly but timing was retarded by 2° .... It's not going to be an issue because I'm installing a BBK and a 4 valve head and can advance the timing to where it's gotta be... But had I not opened this engine, It could have had problems running... Probably Joe Blow talking to his buddy on the assembly line, not paying attention to what he was doing... LOL Anyhow, I made some pretty good videos of the tear down... I get it published in the next day or so... I also removed the stator to install an 11 pole on there to mate up with the engine it's replacing....Just an FYI, the stator that's on there is an 8 pole with one of the coils being for an AC fed CDI. Other than the 2° retard in the timing, everything else is in order. This is a brand new engine... The piston top was 100% clean. The ports on the valves looked like they had been fired at one point, but the black carbon on them wiped right off with a paper towel... The oil that's in them is filtered, (not recycled) motor oils. I'm going to drain mine before I test fire.

On another note IT LIVES. I couldn't wait till tomorrow, had to redo vacuum lines didn't have enough just off carb, so uncapped the intake and connected with a T cranked and she fired up. How awesome.... If ya haven't yet, you may wanna check the valve lash/gap (as a preventative maintenance .... I just had to adjust the lash on a scooter with only 402 miles on it.... JerryScript said he got a brand new one and the valves were set at almost zero clearance... So, ya may wanna give the valves a look over... Also, It wouldn't hurt to pluck the CVT cover and take a look at the belt... I would actually change it to a Gates Belt when ya get the extra cash.... Anyhow, I'm glad she fired up for ya! Let us know how the test ride goes.....

The more I think about it, the more I agree with Martin. I read a really nice write up on the subject hosted by motorcyclesuperstore.com, however I just spent the last 15 minutes and can not find the link to save my life... Anyhow, to summarize, it was an in depth write up on this subject with the Article taking to the position that it can put a rider into a very dangerous situation where traction is concerned. A lot of people disregard manufacturer warning and instructions.... For example: Scoots call for 91 or higher Octane, but yet you will always find Joe Blow saying the manufacturer don't know what they're talking and 87 grade is just fine "because they do it all the time".... If a scoot manufacturer calls for 10w40, again, you will find Joe Blow telling people Oil weight don't matter and you could run chain saw bar oil if ya wanted... I've seen people actually recommend fish tank hose as a substitute for fuel lines... They said "It would be cool, it's clear".... It's these kind of trivial things that people make complicated... My approach is this.... If the manufacturer calls for X, operate the device per X's instructions. The manufacturer is the one who actually makes the stuff and might just happen to be "experts" in the area... So why people disregard a manufacturers intended purposes or disregard warnings is a mystery to me.... But hey, to each their own and for all I know, all these alternative may actually be right... I just prefer listening to the manufacturer.

Well didn't wait until tomorrow. Got it to fire up and she sounds great. Tried the kick starter due to the one on my old motor did not work it would not engage until about halfway thru the down stroke and then didn't give enough to turn the motor over. This motor 3 kicks and she started, was already warm but still glad to have the kick starter if needed. That's great news! I was feeling pretty bad for ya yesterday... I hate it when I get a new toy and it's broken or doesn't work right.... One of the scooters I ordered last winter arrived in the crate with roughly 75- % of the plastic damaged... And I'm not talking "scratches or scuffs".. They were cracked and/or flat out broken... Very dissapointed to say the least... But in the end, the seller actually honored the warranty and sent me a whole new set of plastic basically...Long story short, it all worked out....

Great Vid! How did you gap your rings? Did you use a file? Also, If ya don't mind sharing, where did you get the info for the ring gap size? I just used a very fine flat file that I bought at Lowes for $4,,it was designed to take rakers down on a chainsaw chain,,I made very light passes with it putting equal pressure on both ends and kept the file as level as possible,,I know they make ring filing tools but this worked good enough for me as a hobbyist. I got the info for the ring end gap off the Wisco site,,there is a simple math formula for this...let me see if I can find the chart again and i will post it for you...here is a pic of the chart, you may have to zoom in a little to read it. You're timing for posting all this is great.. I'm currently in the process of converting a 150cc engine from 2 valve to 4 valve and installing a BBK (58.5mm) to bring it up to a 155cc. So, I hope you'll be around tonight in case I need to pick your brain.... For example... The oil ring, or rather I should say the piece of "bologna", Mine seems like it's too big... It's over lapping and one end is trying to go over the other instead of lining up next to each other... In other words, the end are not mating up side by side, it extends and goes over the other one by about 2~3mm... Do I trim it? Cram it in there?

Sure ,,here ya go,,the motor is running tip top,,got about 500 miles on it so far,,Im sure there are 100 other ways to do it,,but this way works for me Great Vid! How did you gap your rings? Did you use a file? Also, If ya don't mind sharing, where did you get the info for the ring gap size?

dmartin95 I have seen some of your projects that you have, and frankly i don't think that i can multi-task as well as you. One project is quite enough for me.....:-) LOL... Yeah, I sure have a lot on my plate right now.... Normally I don't have this many projects going on at once... The deal was, over the winter I stocked up some parts and I do a lot of ordering from over seas and that slow boat from China can take up to two months some times.... Plus, the Scooter warehouses had some good clearance sales over the winter... But now that it has warmed and everything is here and in place, I am going to be jumping from one project to the next... I excited... I want to race in this years twist 'n gone...

Good eye.... yes, for some reason, you can find this model all over the web and the image has been doctored and re-distributed it for some reason..... I was looking for parts for this style of scooter, saw the one in the PIC and was like, umm this isn't right. ..... BMS Bemine Google Image search results linkIf you click the link, you'll see this same scooter (BMS Bemine) with un doctored images... It is a normal GY6 150cc that has the muffler on the right side... My question, why would someone doctor the photo? Bust people using their images perhaps? To show off the muffler? I'm stumped as to why someone would go through the hassle of doctoring the image of a scooter.

i have the same size tires on my scoot and ran into this problem recently. i ended up ordering 2 Shinko's 130/60-13. i would either get a different tire or a slightly different size (as long as you're certain it will fit) i wouldn't put a tire on the front that was designed for the rear. I 100% agree with ramblinman... I would not run a tire designed for the rear, on the front... And visa~versa....
