It may be able to go with more miles which will let the piston move easier than when it was new and tight in the cylinder . My Echarm topped at 65 new but after 1,000 miles it would hit 70 . I got it to hit 75 after I replaced the rollers with DR Pulley sliders .
Yes I think scooters look sportier without the trunk but the trunk is a great item to have as you would not want to put food or a cold drink under the seat . The factory one and the Coocase both have quick release to remove the trunk while the bracket stays bolted on . Go up and down in the midrange and try not to stay at the same RPM or redline until you get more miles on it .

EFI options

I thought MBE sold Ecotrons EFI kits . Yes it will cost a mint to get the hardware and take some time installing and may have to tinker with it some to get it right . My CFMoto Echarm came with Ducatti EFI and is my first small engine to have it . I must say it is better than a carb in every way , MPG , performance , and no having to adjust the idle or jetting . My scoot responses faster at any speed compared to all other 150s I have ridden . EFI is simple as it mostly a fuel pump , and nozzle and an ECU , compared to a carb with jets , needle and float . From 17 degrees to just over 100 it starts up first time and has the same idle speed regardless of the outside or engine temp . EFI is less likely to have problems beside the electric fuel pump going out , but if the ECU does it may be an expensive repair . You may want to to a stator upgrade to help power the pump or always use a trickle charger when you park it as I read a member does this .
I like how Ecotrons has great support from what I heard and a tune able ECU where mine is proprietary . I read where the Ecotrons you have set or not have a rev limit and adjust the timing , and have optional software but man it is expensive or at the the 2T stuff is . My scooter dealer has a Harley Road King with EFI he found a freeware that he used to tweak it to run a lil richer than factory . Both Ducatti dealers would not touch mine as I asked if they could raise the rev limit up 1,000 RPMS . I found some piggy back modules on Amazon but could not find any info in the scooter forums or elsewhere of one using a kit like that on a scooter like mine . I hope this summer to make enough doing outside work this spring and summer to buy the Ecotrons EFI kit with optional secondary injector for my 2T hot rod .
I would do more research as only a few of us had done this and it does cost too much to get and not be able to make it work . I think it will be worth the money and time in the long run . Let us know if you get a kit and how it goes .

Sounds like a great project ! I saw an Adley sorta like that what you have in mine and included a Punsiher decal on the front like this Now it looked wild , but being flat black increases your chances of not being seen by a cager . This is scooters have running lights as well as the head and tail light on during the day time . If your carb is like many it uses Mikuni VM11/22 main jets . So rather than pay per jet trying to tune it I would get this jet kit here from PFS www.partsforscooters.com/114-50-Minarelli-Main-Jet-Kit?sc=34&category=133078You may not need the 2k torque spring as I put 1.5k clutch springs in but could not compress the base to get a 1.5k spring in it . I also installed a Hoca bb torque spring sheave that prevents the spring from binding and made " shifts " smoother www.partsforscooters.com/169-281_Hoca_Torque_Spring_Base I even went with 8g Dr Pulley sliders and could hit 50 MPH up a large steep hill . I have a 19mm TK carb that came with a 40 IJ that worked fine when it was a 50 , but I replaced it with a 45 IJ and it idled so much better .

How does ir perform ? I had a TaoTao that I bought new that fizzled on the 2nd day . I took it to the shop since it was new and under as warranty . My dealer pulled off the hose on the valve cover and it had white smoke which he said was bad . It had a hair line crack in the piston

The belt may be binding .

Most likely it could be the belt as they wear out and have been known to break . I always suggest with fresh engine rebuild , more so with a BBK that one installs a new belt . The BBK has a couple more ponies so it tends to wear them out faster than a 49cc . Check your rollers too since the belt was worn they may be as well .

In SC we use weight sensors instead of metallic or magnetic . I bought a Green Light Trigger , which is magnet mounted underneath and it did not work at all . Sometimes I try to allow a car to get pole position at the traffic light so it trips . I even wave for the car behind me to pull up forward at bust intersections .
In SC if you are one two wheels and the light does not turn and it is clear to proceed then I can legally run a red light . Check your state laws to see if yours also has this . If not suggest it to your representatives . I sometimes cut through to avoid intersections where I have to turn left as it is legal to turn right on red .

You got lucky to have gotten that many miles out of a belt . Was there a sidewalk on that street ? Did you have your blinkers on ? I have only seen two scooters with a hazard light button but one could install a switch with a lil effort .
I had the headlight come out of the housing as the Echarm has a wacked clip rather than screw in like the helper bulbs and it shorted out the electronics . Most scooters only have 1 fuse where mine has 3 in the front access panel and 3 more under the seat bucket I found out . I could not get my father or anyone else to with a truck to get me so I called Progressives roadside assistance . This is the first time I ever had to RA in my life . It sucked having to go through a ton of voice prompts to get to a person . Many systems you can say " operator " to bypass the prompts . I gave them my info and they asked to GPS but I have it turned off on my phone except for 911 . I should have told them to try it just to see if they could . Luckily I was a QuickTrip which is a gas station and easy to find . They texted me the tow company name and number that he called in . I called and the dispatch said it would be at least 45 minutes to an hour wait . I went inside to get a Freezeoni ( frozen drink like a Slushi ) and tada I saw the rollback outside . The driver said that he prefers to use the kickstand over the center stand since he can strap it on tighter . I had suggested the CS since I only use it after I learned the hard way as a teen how easy a bike can roll over and tear up the mirrors .
That sucks is that cop was being a jerk , but he may have been concerned for your safety .
Since you will be getting a new belt you may need new rollers and guides as they wear out too . I replaced my guides when I got a belt as they had worn spots . Clean out all the belt debri . I would also grease the clutch shaft since you already have the CVT cover off . Go with a Gates or Bando belt .

I have saw where some tires came in two diff speed ratings . Some cases you may be lucky and squeeze 10mm wider if you have the clearance but most scooters you only have one size that works right . You should always have tires that are rated above your top speed so you will not be chancing by go to or above its limitations .
When I took auto repair my instructor said " If I only teach you two things , always get premium brake pads and tires " .
I am happy with my Shinkos compared to the ChengChins but I would have proffered Pirelli or Dunlop but money was tight at the time .

Yep Greg I lost bottom end power but it was better and midrange and worked better on the top end but was so darn loud . Stock performs waaaaaaay better on takeoff and has a pleasant 2T rumble . My scooter dealer has a tricked Zuma with a LeoVince pipe that is not loud and is a wheelie popper . I may get one later one but dread paying 250+ .
I thought it was weird how the PM Tuning pipe would not line up when it was a 50 but fit like a glove on the BBK . This is why I dragged around to put the stock pipe back on as I thought it may not line up but luckily it did . I found it was better to get the head stubs started then wiggle the pipe in as it was unreal trying to get them started with the pipe in place as I could not see good nor did I have much clearance to get a wrench in there .

Drain the tank and bowl in the carb . Any carb cleaner spray should remove any film if it has some . Remove the jets and I like to use a stiff solid strand of wire to poke through after spraying with cleaner . Does it idle high at first then slow down after warming up ? The stock jets are small and easy to get dirt or residue in them which clogs them up . Inspect the airfilter . Clean and gap or replace the sparkplug can often do wonders .
Have the valves ever been adjusted ? All 4T will need it done as if the get too tight ( not opening up enough ) make it stall or not even start up .

Running with an exhaust leak not only can be loud but you run lean . The pipe helps the exhaust and heat flow away from the engine . Leaking around the head can make it run too hot . A buddy of mine had a mishap and broke his muffler off . He got mad and broke the pipe so that only a stub was all he had . I warned him not to ride it until he gets a new exhaust or at least upjet as I gave him a jet kit . Well he ignored my warning and a month later POOF the exhaust valve head broke off of the stem and destroyed the piston , head and cylinder . He had to get a whole new piston kit as the parts were too bad to be fixed .
A buddy of mine has a lil 50 with a 2T pipe , the kind that curves forward from the rear but without a muffler . It has a nice deep tone , not really much louder than stock and does not sputter like a lean misfire .
Check around for a new exhaust as you may find a deal on Ebay for an aftermarket exhaust for about the same price as an OEM one . Many are made out of crappy pot metal that rots and often not weldable like real steel is .
You may get a citation if it is too loud as some cops are scooter haters . I put a racing pipe on my 2T and it made my ears ring at times . I could make people jump when I rode by . I put the stock pipe back on since it did have top end power but did not on bottom end and a neighbor paid me 20 bucks to do it too .

I would go with a battery that puts out a few more amps . How many watts is your headlight(s) ? You may want to look up going with an 11 pole stator upgrade . My Echarm has a single 35watt headlight and it comes on with a turn off the key rather than once the engine starts . It stays at the same level of brightness regardless of RPM . Now my Echarm has a 12 pole and 12 amp battery where most use 8 pole and 9 amp battery .
You may have a worn stator or rectifier . You should get a trickle charger before you do this in case the draw prevents the battery from getting charged up enough from riding .
In many cases you might can go up to a bulb(s) of ten watts higher but no more . I read many times where someone tried to use a 55watt without modding and the bulb housing got too hot and melted . The trick is to drill two vent holes but make sure to have anti corrosion gel on all connections . Replacing the tail light and running lights with LEDs may free up some juice .

FI or carb?

I have had many two wheelers since I was 13 and I learned that a carb needed adjusting as the seasons change and the jets need cleaning every so often . After having a TaoTao ATMa 50 which I bought without doing and research , I decided to do my homework before buying another China scoot as I learned they are nothing like a Honda . I have had many Hondas motorcycles and 2 Honda scoots both 2T . I watched the Martin Racing Performance video on You Tube comparing a CFMoto Echarm ( like mine ) against a generic scooter and I was impressed . I liked the idea of being LC instead of AC and EFI . Some Echarms have a carb instead of EFI . I read so many carb woes like too lean , hard to start in winter and clogged jets that I wanted to try EFI . This is my first small engine to have EFI and I must say it is superior in every aspect compared to a carb . Regardless if it was 17 degrees or over 100 it started up instantly with no throttle and always had the same idle speed , where with a choke they idle up when cold and idle down after warming up . Throttle response is much faster with never any hesitation . Everyone of my buddies who had a regular 150 was blown away by how much faster and stronger my stock was 150 was compared to theirs . When I turn the key I can hear the electric fuel pump pressuring up the line . I have not had one single EFI issue with almost 20k miles . I do give it a sip of Sea Foam as preventive maintenance . My dealer has a CFMoto Glory which has the same engine but another body type and he put an injector for a 250 , custom modded variator and a muffler for a 250 that looks like a Cherry Bomb type . He dynnoed at 13 HP at the rear wheel and told me he hit 84MPH . I could hit 75 on the speedo after going with sliders and I got a ticket for going 72 MPH on mine .
When it works it is heaven as its mostly a pump and a nozzle . I read a thread in here where a guy had an Echarm but the ECU fizzled and a new one was over 500 dollars . Yikes ! I do think if one wanted to do the EFI mod that Ecotrons would be the place to buy a kit . My dealer showed me that I have an older Ducatti EFI system but I could not find any Ducatti parts with the same part numbers as mine . I asked both Ducatti dealers if they would bump up the rev limit to 1k more but they did not want to touch it . I got the " I aint working on no China scoot " snootiness from both .
This summer if my outdoor work pays off I plan on getting Ecotrons EFI on my 2T with the optional secondary injector but dread paying 500+ . Their ECU can be programmed where mine only a dealer has a waaaaay over priced module to do so . I have a wire that a computer diagnostic reader can hook up to . I also have a trouble light that I can count the flashes and look up the code(s) in the manual .
