I'm sad to report, borrowing her carb did not resolve the issue. I also borrowed her scooters rectifier and that did not make a difference.
I'm not sure where the screw is to check to see if gas is in the bowl or not. I looked around and googled it but still not sure. I'll have some time on Saturday to operate if I have suggestions on what to do. ...after I put my wifes scooter back together

Man....... if you notice me not responding to this post any longer, then you can assume she found out what I'm up to! I did get her carb installed in my scoot but don't have time to test right now. I'll do my best to test Wed or Thursday after work. Fingers crossed, hope to make it to the gas station and back I've used scrappydog for parts before too, I'll order a carb from them next day if this test is successful.

That's what I was thinking too, about the rectifier relating more to a charging issue after watching a few more videos .....but...I recently had my front head light blow out and it melted into the plastic harness. I replaced the harness and got a new bulb. Maybe the rectifier took a hit too. We might be onto something. Gotta get away from the wife so I can steal some parts of her scooter lol

I updated the 1st video, it's a better video of where the rectifier could be located. I'm gonna "borrow" the rectifier off my wife's scooter soon as I can to see if it helps.

WOW jugdish! what the heck is going on with our scooters Now what am I supposed to try Please report back if the rectifier or pickup coil helps your issue. Here's a video I found regarding the rectifier if it helps you:
and this 1 which might be a little better:

Being that you have two scooters having spare ignition parts on hand would be a good idea. If you have a stock Chinese spark plug I would get rid of it.
John
Did it. same thing. sputters out after an easy ride around the hood. I'm gonna replace all the hoses once I find a place that sells the correct size. I might.....not sure if I'm going to or not....but I might "borrow" the carb out of my wifes scooter to see if somehow that might be the issue.

I wonder if it is electrical? Do you have a spare CDI and coil?
John
Actually I do have a spare. My wife has the same scooter as me. Earlier I used her CDI box and tested, in Cruz mode around the hood this morning. Things were looking good until I geared up to ride to the gas station. Then..... sputter sputter... I didn't change the coil out, just the CDI box

It runs great until I hold it wide open for a few laps around the hood. Then it sputters and eventually dies on me. I can dork with it, maybe let it sit for a bit and repeat. Seems like when it gets hot is when it acts up.
If it happens when it gets hot then it should also happen just cruising around the hood. You only mention WOT which still points to fuel <shrug> My inexperienced guess
True. I can test in Cruz mode when I have time. I have been testing with WOT to make it angry quicker. What canister or hose can I check for sure to see if it's a vent issue? I already take the gas cap off after it chokes out and it doesn't help. The issue seems a little deeper.

If when this happens it takes a long time to start, I would suspect the fuel filter or petcock. When it dies like this, try opening the carb bowl drain, if fuel pours out, it's probably not a fuel starvation issue.
It starts and idles great. Seems like fuel is flowing correctly. In this case, what can I check?
Fyi, since I started this post, I've uninstalled the PAIR system and blocked it off per the video I linked. Seems like I did an ok job since the scooter starts up fine and idles great still. I took the carb apart and cleaned it up, checked the jets and everything seems ok. Still starts and idles fine so I guess I put it back together ok.
I just took it for a test ride and the same thing is happening. It runs great until I hold it wide open for a few laps around the hood. Then it sputters and eventually dies on me. I can dork with it, maybe let it sit for a bit and repeat. Seems like when it gets hot is when it acts up. Spark plug gap? Something electrical gets upset after it gets hot? Maybe something to do with the automatic choke, maybe it doesn't disengage? What can the experts suggest?

JoeyVee - the PAIR emission device? I'm googling it now but if you have a diagram or instructions of removal, please let me know. EDIT: I found this video: I'm not sure why the fuel filter is so dark?
Cyborg - I had my gas cap off while the motor was running crappy, that would negate the classic over filled fuel tank flood issue yes?
tvnacman - yes, it'll start and idle fine, without having to open the throttle. It runs fantastic......until it chokes outm which is not always when I'm running it wide open but running it wide open is the fastest way to make it angry and then it starts flooding out. I'll google this too but are there instructions on removing the emissions handy? a DC CDI? Put a volt meter on the cdi? what should it read? EDIT: after watching video's, if the CDI was bad, there shouldn't be any spark. But the scooter starts up so there is spark. Unless if the CDI isn't pushing out the correct current all the time, maybe that will kill the motor?
Thanks all.

Hello scooter friends,
I have a Chinese ZNEN 150cc scooter. have had it for 4 or 5 years now. It lives in the garage. I've been riding it all this time and a lot this past summer around town. It's always had a small vent issue where as every now and then it'll choke itself out and I've been able to take the gas cap off, get it started and it's good to go for a while.....
BUT......a few weeks ago I filled up the gas tank, rode down the road it it started choking out so I did usual with the gas cap but now that doesn't work.
It really chokes it self out hard now. I have to leave it alone for a while before it'll start back up, and it will start back up. I can ride it around the hood and hold it wide open, eventually it'll act up again and not want to stay running. It'll start then just die out. repeat and rinse. Could it be related to heat?
I've adjusted the valves. Checked the fuel filter. I've played around/tested with unplugging various hose's. Everything seems to be ok. I got it to fail in front my house and recorded it to see if you all can give me something to work with. I'd rather not take the carb apart but if I must....then I will. Maybe the floats are getting stuck or something...(if this has floats)
Suggestions welcome Thanks
Here's the video I got:

long time dirt biker here, at 43 yrs young. wife went with me to the dirt bike shop 1 day, saw some scooters...was determined to buy 1. That night she ordered a 150cc znen from CA and had it delivered clear across the US to our house a week later. After riding her around town a few times, she kicked me off it and took over! Got her licensed up, order me the same scooter in a different color and off we went. We have many 25mph-45mph roads where we live so our scooters get us around with no worries. In the summer, we're riding all around town doing errands and such. The fun factor is off the hook!
