The thing that made me so mad was its an old helmet not worth much they just got it to be punks. They where just sitting there and I bet one was said I dare you to take his helmet. He want do anything he rides a scooter. That's what made me mad. And ya they could have shot me but don't think about that. You really should replace that helmet now.

I got a thumbs-up just now. By a rider on a red Ducati. Said rider was a beautiful woman in a skin-tight leather riding outfit. Fortunately, I was stopped or I might have tested my safety gear!

ever since a dude in California get sued & lost after pulling a woman out of a wrecked car with gas dripping everywhere....I say, let them bleed out. Not worth the risk. Perhaps you'll change your mind when you get involved in a hit and run accident, lying in the gutter somewhere, bleeding, broken leg and arm, and no one renders aid. Seeing cars zoom by, people looking at you like you're a zoo animal, or a newest attraction, just wishing for water or shade, but no one offering, until you're completely dried out, thinking the last bits of life have been squeezed out of you, and you don't think you'll make another hour, and the ambulance pulls over. In that case you can thank the person that had the heart to call an ambulance, because if it wasn't for that person, you probably wouldn't have survived. If someone who sees the accident doesn't call, whatever car or people behind them won't render aid, because they think someone already called 911 before. In that situation, I would RATHER not survive. Just let me bleed out.

As a certified first aid instructor I am obligated to render aid and protected by the good Samaritan's law in my state. Not sure how they could win a case like the one you mentioned... Easily...she had a lawyer working on contingency, he couldn't afford a good one.

The good news: I'm ridin'! The bad news...I decided to do a quick after work ride just now. I noted two possible issues. One...I REALLY need a tinted visor. More notably: starting off (especially on a hill), it shudders a bit...I feel it more than hear it, though a couple times, it made the top box rattle. The scoot has ~10,000 miles...am I right in thinking it's probably time for a drive belt? If so...anyone better than me at searching (which would be pretty much everybody) know of a how-to on the web?

I'm sorry you don't agree with my assessments. Still, I don't think I'm wrong at all. I wouldn't trust a chinese bike all day regardless. I've ran my TaoTao ATM50, for 6 hours WOT, but doing it once does not guarantee it will do it every time. For instance, a 300cc sports bike won't keep up all day neither at wot, or near wot. For that reason, the dino bikers that use cruisers, and have years of experience, unlike some teenagers on this forum that bought their 50cc scoots yesterday; bikers tell you that you'll really need a 500+cc to ride all day, unless you won't mind riding at 40MPH or below all day, or don't mind riding in syberia. And yet...dude I work with has a V-star 250 and loves it. He got it in lieu of a debt a guy owed him a couple years ago. He planned to clean it up & flip it, wanted to ride it a few times to make sure everything worked OK. He likes it so much that he sold his Vulcan 900. He reports it will run 80+MPH with no strain and will hold 65 for hours. His longest ride so far was Fall River, MA to Albany. (About 200 miles each way, all highway.) But wait, that's UN-POSSIBLE for a little 250!

Never help, never stop. Never get involved. No good deed goes unpunished, not worth the risk.

I run Rotella 15w-40 in all of my gasoline engines that spec for it. Scoot, boat, OPE. Its good oil. Just because it was designed for a diesel doesn't mean it will not work in a gasoline engine... unless you have nothing more than a rudimentary understanding of what oil does. Personally I see no sense in putting synthetic oil in a scooter, or anything for that matter. An air-cooled engine is one of the few places where I would run synthetic...they run hot and are notably brutal on oil. But yeah, it's usually a waste of money. I run diesel oil (currently Rotella) in my Jeep in the summer--and the wear numbers are superb. (Exact word used by the lab that analysed it.)

I pay $ /year...$500K liability, and UM. New Hampshire does not require helmets or insurance.
