This model comes with handlebars attached, but I always check the stem during PDI.

This model comes with handlebars attached, but I always check the stem during PDI. That's right, and as well as checking anything else that could "come loose" and potentially land you head first in the back of a fedex truck.

follow up .....
its been 70 miles and it indeed seems much better, feel sure i have the problem under control. it was a lesson learned.
tire pressure on this damn thing is always a quandry. when you leave it low, you can handle the damn potholes more safely, but you get awful squishy steering. its hard to decide which is worse.
what concerns me now is the front wheel bearings. i see no symptoms at all at this time, but i am sure wondering. i've raised the front end and shoved and kicked side-side pretty hard. i don't see any play. i don't feel any wobble while riding. i know i should tear into that eventually. if there is a procedure somewhere you can point me to it. this last one was feel-it-as-you-go.
thank you again for all your help
