Can't help you about the foam, but can congrats you on the new bike!
Plus I'm feeling left out. The Italians have a better grasp of English with their manuals. Or they hired a native speaker to write it. I got no "great doom" or anything like it in my manual. Sigh.

Congrats on the ride, looks very nice. I'm not sure about the foam, but it does look like filter foam. Pretty sure the "any oil you like" lady won't be able to help... If you can hold it up and see light through it, I'd stick it back in for now, until you find out for sure..

Giving an update:
So far I've absolutely loved the new bike. So easy to ride and I've been using it for my daily commute. I barely touch my car anymore. Soooo much fun!
Now for the bad: It's been less than a month since I bought the bike and the speedometer and the odometer have stopped working entirely. The speedometer was never correct anyway. Even though it says MPH I strongly believe it was measuring KPH. I could get up to 75+ according to the speedometer, and this scooter should not be capable of more than about 60MPH. Also when I was cruising with say, 40 MPH traffic, it said I was going 55 and I was still getting passed. So I don't believe it was ever accurate.
But now both the speedometer and odometer have stopped working. I'm going to contact the seller to see if there's anyway they can help. Hopefully they don't say they can only help if I ship the bike back to them, which I won't do.
