Currently we have a 40ft shipping container at port in San Juan, PR with all our Chinese parts. In there are 200 80cc bicycle engine kits. We just got word that U.S. Customs are inspecting the container. D8 Which is bad because those engines are illegal and they can confiscate them thats $15,000 down the drain!

Sorry to hear that the engines may be confiscated. I would like to get one of those engines. A word of advice though, if you are importing illegal products you should not advertize it anywhere. Government goons are everywhere. This may be a random search, or they may have been tipped.

Roy most get away with it by having the supplier mark the boxes as 49cc which are legal. but the last time we ordered they got through. hopefully these do to. Dont really understand why 80cc engines are illegal to import but legal to ride around Puerto Rico

The difference is very small. Worst come to worst, import the 49cc versions, and import BBK upgrades. They are legal to import, just illegal to install/use So finally I made a purchase! A wallyworld Onyx 29 beach cruiser, and a 66cc engine, with needle rollers, instead of sliders.

We actually told our supplier to ship the engines disassembled and the parts in different boxes. like that they cant confiscate them. Hopefully they did it. From what we are told currently US Customs is looking for those engines.
