I was reading at another forum actually a scooter forum where a person was talking about other dying scooter forums. This person in their own words and arrogance made this statement and even went as far as to say if he was posting on any of these dying forums they would be doing fine and not in that position.
Now I do look at what is called the forum analytics from time to time just to see things and how the forums are doing. One can always tells things like, it's springtime and people are riding and having a good time, not posting on a forum or even like now old man winter is here, too cold to ride fro most and people are doing things to their scooter in the slow riding season. Weather and the seasons do play a part on activity on a outdoor type forum.
So I decided just for the heck of it I would just compare this forum as far as members, threads and posting and I'll be the first to tell you I was very surprised at the numbers. I never dreamed this would be the case in particular one number, never compared before, never thought of it until the post I mentioned.
So here are The Ride's current numbers:
Total Threads: 4,807 Total Posts: 54,858 Total Members 1605 Forum age 0 Years, 9 Months, and 29 Days
Other Scooter Forum:
Total Topics: 6,125 - Total Posts: 53,376 Total Members: 6,279 Forums age 3 Years, 9 months
Less that a year old, less than 2k in members but 1482 more posts that a forum that is nearly 4 years old that has over 6k in membership?  Dying? Sorry I just can't see it? And we need someone else to come help boost the forum activity here because in less that a year we have surpassed total posting and may actually pass them in threads by the time this forum is a year old?
As I said I never dreamed this myself until I looked at these numbers and all I can say is;
WHAT A GO PEOPLE OF THE RIDE!  
All of you have made this happen and I SALUTE YOU ALL.

I just like the feel of this forum better then the other ones I've looked into. I am a member of only this forum. I don't have the time to looks at more then one, so I chose this one, mostly because of JR and Ally and the other regulars that post here. I just like the vibe. We really don't even have that many crazy flamewars here.
I try to buy from the forum vendors when I can. I've learned so much from the forum and it's made working on these chinese bikes enjoyable.
You guys have earned those numbers.

That has a lot to do with all forums, just like you said the feel of it. When members are posting it shows just how much interest and how much people enjoy where they are at. Yes we got some great sponsor/vendors here and they just help make it feel like home.
Hopefully soon I can get back to adding more material in the tech section and also our hope is to start a archive section with some of the best tech help posts form the mother forum Scootdawg. We're planning a video section and also a news letter.

With no particular ax to grind, I can tell you this is the most active, jumpin' and energetic of the scooter blogs that I can see. Plus it has the most input from members on a daily (and more often hourly basis.) Ditto Skyrider, the technical chops are phenomenal, and dedication from the mods is outstanding. WE thank you.

howdy, I do like this forum and appreciate jr and doug etc an their work. I have noticed we have less ride reports than we used to and maybe that's something that could be worked on by the members. when we write up a ride and add pictures It is like all the rest of the readers get to share in that ride as well. I certainly like to read those write-ups.

I got started years ago on the original ScootDawg. It was great... Things happened, and ScooterRebels was formed. I love ScooterRebels, and now ItIsTheRide has sort of replaced it in my mind. "Replaced" isn't the right word, maybe "morphed" is closer... I still check in, and it's still great, but many of us from ScooterRebels have now made ItIsTheRide their primary site. I don't have much time to be on the computer, so I stick almost exclusively with this site. It's just a matter of time available, and most of the "regulars" are already here. Of course, JR's Scooter Professor is a great site, but for most of my posts ItIsTheRide is friendly and convenient. Seems most everybody gets along and has similar interests. I've had the pleasure of meeting Doug in person, and had enough communication with JR to feel like I know him personally too. They are good folks!Being an old-school big-bike rider for decades, old age and modern scooter design has really moved me now into scooters for the duration. Scooters are still not "mainstream" in America, and, it's good to have some nice sites catering to scooters, riders, and most certainly, THIS is one of the very best!
It always amazes me how DIVERSE the interests of scooter-jockeys are! The 50cc folks seem to usually be loyal to the small scoots, as being the very essence of scooters; handy, affordable, the ultimate basic transportation. The 150 folks seem to spend time getting the most from the air-cooled 50-55mph+ general-purpose rides, and sometimes (like myself) eventually decide they need a little more speed than a 150 can offer. The bigger-displacement riders sometimes are looking for something more "motorcycle-like" and some like them for NUMEROUS other "scooter-related" reasons. Scooters today come in all "flavors" from basic transport, up to full-road-motorcycle touring capabilities. I just don't know of any other common type of motor-vehicles that encompass such a vast variety of uses and personal preferences. More than most other drivers, scooter-riders seem to differ from enthusiasts, to utility-drivers, to high-speed touring to collecting... even to major customizers. I think this atmosphere reminds me of the really old days of the fifties, and sixties with motorcycle and "motor-bike" riders. This is the "brotherhood of the road" that got me interested in bikes way back around 1955. What a MAGNIFICENT conglomeration of different vehicle owners, who all still share a common mode of transportation! And here, most of us all get along. AMAZING! I started with scooter forums in July of 2008, my first one being the original Scoot Dawg. Then added Scooter Rebels, Scooter Professor, Scooter Doc and 49ccscoot and still use those forums, this one being my main.
Of course, like many of us, I went through all the "stuff" associated with the change over to Scoot Dawg.net and the starting of this forum about a month later. To be fair, I looked at the stats of these two forums only since their age was about the same and the majority of the membership base came from the same place. I was surprised of the big difference.

They each have a forum to maintain, which they very easily could have focused on. Instead they pooled their knowledge and skills and created this forum. And they somehow managed to transfer the feel of the old SD to here. Yes, a forum is the sum of its many members. But it's the forum's moderators who first set the tone. >'Kat |

Thanks folks but again I want to stress a good forum is made up of people like the members here who add knowledge, fun, good conversation and most of all friendship.
Even though it takes time to make a forum as far as the outlay especially with a new software format like the new V5 we are on it's the people here that make this forum special.
I hope to be able to post more soon and again Doug and I have plans for more things and we appreciate your patience and support in doing these things.
