Here's a twist? www.scootdawg.net/showthread.php?t=53784The admin is clearly saying you can delete your own posts but not a thread, it would be deleting other's material. Now doesn't that just take the cake! True and untrue. You can edit the original post and replace the content with "Deleted". It has no effect on other's material if you do it that way. Now if ADMIN deletes the original post then the software deletes it all. Jim What I was meaning Jim is if his software is like most one can delete any post they make in a thread. He clearly stated you can delete your post but not a thread you start. A post is just you making a post in any thread.
On most software if you open a new thread then the only way that thread can be deleted by just a member that made the thread is if you hurry before anyone makes a reply to the thread, deleting the very first post will also delete the thread. But if anyone posts on a thread then you can only delete the posts you made, the thread will remain, you can also modify the posts including your original thread title.
On this software I can delete your first post yet leave the thread or delete the entire thread, it gives me a choice.
Also for him to restore your posts he more than likely had to go to his software support people and ask for it to be restored, most software companies do not give backup powers to forum admins?

I think he has the ability to do a back up to the forum. He could most likely restore a post from his back up. He has a lot of skill when it come s to forum software. I once downloaded a program that let me copy the content of scooterebels for a complete copy of it.
Honestly though I don't think this discussion is really our domain. Jim informed us as to what happened. Any of our members that may be members there can now consider themself informed on that forums policies and practices. If you are not comfortable with the way it is run, nobody can make you stay there. If you have no problem with it, you have nothing to be concerned about.

Wow just wow. Jim are you really are going to sue for posts you freely gave?? Were you expecting something in return? If the answer is no (and I think it is) then why remove them unless you just want to be a jerk? Really I don't get the motivation for deleting your content unless there is some part of the story missing. Anyway I hope karma treats you well.

Nuff said, I am locking the thread.
I think it is pretty obvious that something happened to make Jim unhappy with something over there, I have no idea as to what it is but this thread has gone far enough.
