Because the eu makes an oy sound in German. And the tsch is another sound. There's a proper grammatical term for those. Not gonna bother to Google it though. Ya' wanna' get picky, there's all sorts of equally non-sense spellings/pronunciations in American English. >'Kat

Ha!... umm.. yeah.. I knew that. That's what I said.. it was German. My example was to show the letters we know in English make different sounds in the German language. Do you see that now? Thanks. Have a nice day.

Oh Leo, I've heard Texan. It's not just another country, sometimes it's another language! Sorry, gy6, I wasn't being critical of your post. Just trying to point out that every language has its oddnesses to others' ears. Heck, our own language has so many varieties it's sometimes hard to figure out what somebody's saying. PBS had a show several years ago. They recorded folks from different parts of the States saying something like "I'll wait here for the bus to take me downtown." Then they played the recording in other areas. Some, you just couldn't understand for anything. He said it's why they usually have MidWesterners do audio instructions and stuff, 'cause it's the most neutral and understandable accent to everyone. spandi, Churchill was WAY before my time. And I'm not sure I ever heard a recording of him say Nazi. Nauzee? Gnat-see? Krauts? ;D Btb Leo, Mom says her dad never did fully master English. He spoke Germglish, rather like what you posted. With was always mit, de for the, all that sort of thing. >'Kat, ready für Bier und Brats, ja!
