Hey all! At my wits end with this.
Picked up a 2000 CH80. Was running ok when I bought it, but would bog down on full throttle. Previous owner thought carb needed to be replaced. Bought a new carb (OEM, good stuff) and got it on. Could get it to start but it would idle very high and adjusting the air/fuel screw didn't do much. I also wasn't getting fuel from the petcock without applying vacuum to the line. When spraying starter fluid around the rubber intake/carb the idle would change leading me to think that the intake manifold needed to be replaced.
Fast forward a week - got the new intake manifold (rubber isolator) and proper o-rings in the mail. Bolted the new carb to the new intake and bolted down the intake. Figured out how to route all the hoses and now it won't start.
When I pull the fuel line from the carb while trying to start I get plenty of fuel so the petcock and the vacuum line and seal on the intake should be good. I have fuel in the bowl when I open the carb bowl drain. I'm getting spark and the plug is dry. It tried to turn over for a brief second when I was testing yesterday but I wound up killing the battery from trying so many times. I did spray the carb/intake with starter fluid while trying to start just to see if there were any leaks and it made no change.
So how did I go from running, albeit poorly, to not being able to start after only replacing a part that was bad?
