I have a 2008 Lance Venice 150 and randomly while out the electric start had stopped working. The starter would spin but would not engage the flywheel. Naturally I went down the common problems and replaced various parts to no avail.
I replaced the Starter and starter solenoid. The starter still does not engage the flywheel and it does not turn the cylinder over. When looking at the flywheel it did not look overly stripped or teeth did not look bad. The starter does spin i checked it while out of the case. I then replaced the solenoid just to make sure (only 5$) and that didnt help either.
The battery was replaced in the last 6 months and turns over very well.
I am stumped.....anyone have some insight on what this could be?
Thanks

Does that have a Bendix or a Sprague Clutch like a normal GY6? My 2007 Lance had a Sprague Clutch which are notorious for failing especially after a few kickbacks while starting. If the starter spins but does not engage the engine then this is the part that usually fails: www.partsforscooters.com/164-15_GY6-_Starter_Clutch?sc=38&category=138718The starter is in constant engagement with the intermediate gear and starter clutch which is behind the stator on the GY6 150 so after draining the engine oil you have to remove the fan shroud, stator and right engine side cover to get to it. Here is a pretty complete video on how to replace a starter clutch that no longer engages:
