So ive got about $100 and im getting some cheap performance stuff and i really would like to know everyones input. I can either get a new cone filter that will fit straight on the carb or i can get a uni and make my own intake tube. What would be the better option? i like the simple and easy part of the cone filter but also would not mind making an intake. But im just curious if anyone knew what what would be better? Or if Someone has tried both and maybe knows. Just let me know. Ill post a few of the other things im looking at so i can get yalls opinion!

Just FYI: there is a "C"-shaped intake you can buy from Uni. I ended up having one made at my local muffler shop. Correctly sized exhaust tubing bent to suit me, flared a little on one end to match the Uni, connected to the carb by a 1" piece of rubber auto radiator hose with stainless clamps. The metal, I think, is best for keeping an undisturbed airflow into the carb.
H4 bulbs are the tops of all mods!

How's it going ? I made a couple for some members . here is what it looks like. You can get the parts at most hardware stores. Except for the uni. There is an ATV shop and a motorcycle shop near my house that sells the uni filters. |

Im waiting on a uni style filter in the mail too. I ordered one with a 45 degree bend but idk if that will clear the bar either. I hope i dont have to make anything, but I have a feeling I probably will. Radiator hose and pvc works right? What size pvcand hose works on a 24mm carb and42mm filter?

I just posted this in another thread  I used a short rubber hose that has hose clamps on both sides, and a 45 degree pvc to get it passed the bar But it would bounce around alot so i used 2 zip ties to hold it steady to the crossbar I actually got both pieces in the plumbing department, the rubber hose and the pvc were both 1 1/2 (roughly 40mm) The 45 degree bend wasn't enough because it actually bent my uni right into the cross bar. I spent less than $10 on the 2 parts I needed, I actually brought a spare carb to home depot with me and tried a few different connectors out to see what would work best |

In my opinion , the uni setup with the homemade intake is Better . it pushes the uni out further towards open air. The heat from the engine moves backwards , so the filter that is right against the carb will pull in more heat . cooler air is always better. |

So is the goal to route the tube under thebar then out. Or to route it away before it gets to the bar? Also how to you secure it from bouncing? Im worried itll move around and crack my intake unless I secure it. The crossbar doesnt seem like a good idea to secure it too cuz itll move in relation to the engine/swingarm.

The goal is to get it past the crossbar. and alot of people make things to secure it to the crossbar. im planning on making something that will bolt somewhere not sure just yet. But im worried about it bouncing around alot too.
