CVT Tuning?

Just wondering if anyone does tuning to the CVT. Opened mine up recently and now understand how it works. Saw pictures and read descriptions but now have first hand experience. Don't know if I really want to change anything just wondering.

CVT Tuning?

Redsilver,
I did extensive tweaking on the CVT on my old Xingyue 150, and it did improve performance. But that was a 150. These 250's have SO much more power and torque that they are much more forgiving than the 150's that work to the max, all the time. My Kymco Grandvista is mechanically identical to your Bet and Win, so I assume the performance is also similar.
Mine is so good "as-is" that I hate to mess with it, but... From my past experience on the air-cooled GY6 150 CVT, I believe changing from rollers to sliders would improve the Kymco some, providing you get the right weight, and I don't know just what weight sliders would be ideal.
I think the Kymco factory clutch is about perfect without any mods at all. Mine is as smooth and positive as a good car with an automatic tranny.
I weigh 235 pounds, so the scooter is hauling some weight. My acceleration is very good, and top-speed on the level, no wind is over 80mph. BUT... hills and wind which are ALWAYS there cut it to about 70mph. It will cruise 65mph all day with ease.
My gut-feeling is that with sliders instead of rollers, it would have slightly better acceleration, and maybe a couple of mph more top-end. Sliders are just better-designed for the job than rollers. Their wedge-shape FULLY opens and closes the variator, where rollers only touch the variator at the center of their round shape. That leaves a little unused variator at both open and closed positions.
My scoot has 14K miles on her, so replacing the rollers is probably about due. Next season, I may try sliders, but I won't touch that "perfect" clutch... LOL!
