I just bought this 2010 Qlink Hawk 50cc 2 stroke scooter from a friend who bought it new. It has only 400 miles on it and the top speed is only 30 mph. Does anyone know if they had restricted cdi's on these models? Did they have the ring in the variator?
The cdi looks to be a 4pin unit.
Thanks in advance for any help on getting this to go faster.

You are going to have to open up the CVT and check the Variator, also a picture of the CDI and wiring on it.
But I have to tell you that motor is only rated at 2.7 hp so it is not a screamer STOCK.

My 2T would hit 45+ all day long with only mods were a NGK iridium ( fires better than standard but no speed gain ) and I upjetted from a 68MJ to a 75 . It would max out at 8K RPMs but if I went downhill and went above that it would fizzle and stall . I think you meant a 5 pin CDI . I put on the blue finned CDI from PFS and it still had the same top end and fizzle . It came with 6g rollers . I tried 4g but too light so I mixed them up to equal5g . More than likely yours has the restrictor washer and needs to be upjetted as factory they are set for sea level and on the lean side . Higher elevation requires a larger main jet . Visit hear for de-restricting tips TipsI later put on a 47mm or 70cc BBK and noticed that the exhaust port on the 40mm ( 49cc ) was D shaped where the BBK was O shaped which allowed more flow and RPMs went up to 10,500 with racing pipe and stock exhaust too . You will be surprised how much a larger main jet , lighter rollers and NGK iridium will do for you . I use Dr Pulley sliders in my scoots since they perform and last longer than rollers . If your exhaust pipe is only tubular with no expansion chamber you will not have top end power like those with a tuned exhaust . If you want more power a BBK is your best option and it blows my mind how much 7mm bigger piston can zoom ! |
