I found a service and maintenance manual for the QMB 139 (GY) engine and transmission .it has 118 pages of complete information and pictures .Came on a CD and I downloaded it to paper for the garage. Spent 3 hours running it off. Also found a way to remove and replace belt without removing the driving belt device and starting transmission pulley I imagine most of you fellows know how this is done but it was news to me and makes the replacement of the belt very simple if it works. I removed the crankcase cover and got the belt size for replacement. Took a short ride to get the mail but it is still too cold to much riding.
Put a nice long ride on it, and possibly killed the oem CDI with a hot coil. It just shut off at a stop light after a 50 mile run up and down the beach highways, and would not restart. I had it towed home. Hard to say until troubleshooting starts tomorrow.
EDITED:
It is tomorrow, and that was the problem.
I put back the racing CDI.
The racing CDI kicked right over and the scoot is running fine.
For as inexpensive as they are, I think I will keep one in my tool kit.

Not what I did to my scooter, but what I tried to do. I tried to pick him up from spring tune-up. But there's only two places that make the oil filter he needs (I'm guessing the mech means domestically). One was out of stock. The other, the warehouse he ordered from was out, so they transferred his order to the Nevada warehouse. He was hoping it would come in today.
I told him I keep seeing more folks riding motorcycles every day, and I want to get on my scooter and start practicing so I can ride to work. He understood. Not that it'll make that filter show up faster. Sigh.

Just changed out my Variator, put in some new Dr. Pulley 12gm sliders, new belt, and new front brake pads. 7200 miles and it was time. I used up every bit of the pads, but didn't go into the rotor.
Belt had the full 7200 miles on it (I know, I know - taking a risk)
I knew it was time to change out the sliders, as my fuel usage was higher, and my rpm's were high at cruising speed due to the sliders being literally down to the brass. I do have to say, the were all worn evenly and still seemed to work well.
I put around 800-900 miles/month on this one and It's been pretty much flawless for the most part.
I picked him up from the shop. He's all checked out, everything's good (including the 7-year-old battery), oil and filter are all changed and fresh and new. He's ready to go...if the weather ever stays decent, now that I have him back. Supposed to rain now (and on Easter Sunday--that's seven weeks of rainy Sundays, you know!), be cold, blahblahblah. Stupid KS weather.

Today I removed the tailight and did some fiber glass work to fix the mounts. (a little background) recently I noticed going over bumps there was a lot of racket from the back of the bike upon inspection I found the tail light was flopping around. The upper mounting tabs were completely broken so the tail light was only being held on by the side panels. using fiberglass resin and some ingenuity I remade the upper mounts.

Rode over to Scrappy Dog Scooters today and replaced my RR, hopefully no more blown headlights. If that didn't solve the problem I'm switching to HIDs, Scrappy has the AC ballast so you don't have to rewire for DC, and I already have LEDs for all turn signals.
Also did a valve adjustment and then tweaked the a/f for the warmer temps. I've noticed it's much easier to tune this particular scooter for cold weather than hot.
Finished up by giving my baby a bath, she's all squeaky clean and running mean now!
Changed variator weights and took the scoot to work today. No problem at all to keep up with highway traffic (60-70 mph). When I take the scooter to work it's a lot smoother when I drive home. I want be stuck in all traffic queues.

Stripped the bottom right 8mm bolt head on my CVT cover, on my new engine (that I haven't even started). Time for a new 8mm socket I would say. I think it'll come off with a 8mm wrench, just gotta go get one.
Gotta swap out the longer rear tire shaft with my older, shorter one....tomorrow. A tad frustrated because the pic of the engine on the website has the short one installed-- and is even measured in the pic!! Oh well easy job, well if you can get the CVT cover off that is. LOL!
