Never heard of a lighting coil pulse?
Are you talking about the COIL or PICK UP COIL that sends the signal to fire?
If you have a picture of it that would help. Alleyoop

it needs two pulses per rev. becaues this is a 2 cylinder.. the book www.hondaspree.net/other/SA50_88-02_service.pdfis there, chapter 14-0. starting. im 14-6 regulaotr/rectifier 4P connector, check charging components at connection terminals. then lists 4 battery wire, charging coil, lighting coil, resistor. theres 2 colors on each. i think +- yellow-green lighting. and the next column is battery voltage. then next 14-7. alternator inspection stator charging coil disconnect 6P. resistance between white and green terminals, tells u if the stators needs replaced. then it says stator lighting coil resistance between yellow and green terminals then replace stator coil if not in range. so thats what im looking at. i read this here about my coil but, i dont know where to hook in. which wire. maybe i should check ground first. It turned out that it takes the timing/trigger from the lighting coil! Even though it's used on a two stroke twin, it uses the timing from the lighting coil, not the ignition (2 sparks per rev on the twin). So the rpm is correct based on using the number of charging pulses per rev. Sweet! I got a cool 3" analog 10k tach

TWIN? that manaul says it is a SINGLE CYLINDER. What scoot do you have?
Are you talking about the 1pe40qma motor? or a different scoot?
Love to see a picture of this TWIN 2 stroke. Put up a picture of it.

Those guys are on something, you do not hook up the tach to the killwire for one. You hook it up to the COIL FEED so it sends the signal to the tach of when it is firing. Then if it has a ground wire you ground that wire to the frame, then if it has a lighting wire you hook that up to anything that lights up when you turn on the KEY so it lights up. Alleyoop

yea but that guy figured u needed a resistor inbetwen to get the right rpms. so. you think the headlght wire might work? i think its the headlight gets power sent to it twice per prm. which makes 2 rpms for a twin cylinder. cause if it gets low enough rpm, the headlight, jars, blinks, slow like, and dims. where am igoing to get the tach signal at? its a john deere 10k rpm tach. they sold them on ebay for a while. 3 inch tach. this, www.ebay.com/itm/200732593175

that tach. guy hooked it on lighting pulse, to get 2 rpms per revolution for th 2 cylinder tach, here. maybe a mod.
and this is for a af16e honda? i think cdi's are interchangable. let me check colors..

he has wiring directions in the ad(sic): "TYPICAL WIRING INSTALLATION IS AS FOLLOWS: RED WIRE TO POSITIVE (SWITCHED) POWER, YELLO/RED STRIPED WIRE TO NEGATIVE SIDE OF COIL, YELLOW WIRE FOR DIAL LIGHT TO POSITIVE (SWITCHED) POWER AND A BLACK GROUND WIRE FROM TACH BODY TO CHASSIS."

ok. so i went outside, and hooked up the tach. i touched the pickup wire to stufff. i went to the 6p on the wiring harness. green. nothing. afraid to fry it, i didnt touch red. white, gave me i think double rpms. yellow with green patches, gave me, i think, the right rpms. i cant rev cause of wrong needle. showed 6000 revving up.

So which wire on the 4 plug CDI? The top Left on the 4 plug or the top Right on the 4 plug CDI?
Colors of the wires going to the CDI are different from scoot to scoot so saying yellow with green patchs does not mean anything. It is which of the two TOP WIRES on the 4 plug CDI(LEFT OR RIGHT WIRE?). Alleyoop

engine harness 6P. Coil, negative. i don't know. it plugs then the wires turn different colors. i dint check much.
black on honda is power. green is ground. i think it was right from the harness. blue white was double rpms. the cdi, didnt do anythig when i touched the tach pickup, wire, from it. i tried all the ones, blue and white and i didnt know if it would blow it. i heard that one guy say, something, it was double, like a blue and white wire. ddint soudn like nothing blown. reaad wires. greens ground. according to manual. im loking for neagtive. didnt find it. checked the wires. didnt touch red. honda's power is black. guess red can be used. i read one part of the harness, black is honda and somebody said that. honda's power is, black.
that's all i know. the top the wires change colors. yellow with patches of green. and blue white green didnt do nohting, i didnt touch red. yellow green patches tach was idling, 1700 rpms. 1500 i dontknow. 10,000 rpm and ill find out.

i took some pics of the wires. on that cdi, the blue white pickup wire, and yellow green coil wire. and then the kill wire, and green wire on the bottom. s11.postimg.org/4s9bax8cz/carburetor_013.jpg[/img] i had, blue white or some color i took pics, nothing, then a color wire, cant remember. tried the coil wire you said and kill, nothig. dont remember if i tried the pickup, ah yea i remember i ddi. nothing. the other side, i took pics of the wires. so, cdi had 5 wires, 6p, connection, had a green negative wire on the bottom, under the blue. maybe other color, 2 greens? pics.. ... uh. the 6P from the alternator, stator, the copper coiled wires, coming from it, poluggin into the scooter, harness, i found a blue and yellow green wire. checked. blue double yellow green patches, from the top of the scotoer side of the harness, it shows. i got a video. is the tach telling me i got a low carb throttle problem? or is it low on rpms? player.vimeo.com/video/66406925
