Here at It Is The Ride we take pride in being the friendliest scooter discussion board on the web. This has not come about by chance. The volunteer staff work very hard to keep the boards civil and spam free. The sense of community that has developed as a result is truly unique.
While everyone is welcome to participate there are a few rules that you must adhere to before posting.
Be polite! Dissagreements are fine, even healthy, but allowing a thread to spiral into a flaming hate fest will not be tolerated and the thread will be deleted. Members are encouraged to post their complaints about various dealers and vendors. That said there is a caveat. Complaining is one thing. Going totally OCD on the dealer or supplier in question is not! Start one thread and limit your comments about your experiences to that thread. Don't interject negative comments about said dealer on every thread you post in regardless of the topic. There is a board specifically for posting good and bad experiences with dealers. Limit these posts to that board.
No spamming or free advertising! Soliciting members through E-mail, Private Messaging, or general posting is prohibited. Also promoting your goods and services without the express permission of the Admin (JR) is strictly forbidden.
No Group Buys We can not allow the organization of group buys on the forum. The potential for something to go wrong or someone to get swindled is too high.
Dealers, Part Vendors, Importers Dealers, parts vendors and importer participation is welcomed and encouraged. Those who actively participate in forum discussions and give unbiased aid and assistance to members regardless of what they ride can post news relevant to their business. This is however a fine line and very easy to cross. Announcing a new model, policy, website, accessory lines, etc. are acceptable topics but posting pricing, promoting sales, directly soliciting business and so forth are not allowed in discussion threads. When a member specifically asked for information about a scooter, part or anything that deals with scooter sales a vendor may simply reply "I can help you PM me." Dealers, part vendors and importers may post information in the Dealer Section for their goods and specials and or sale items in the Dealer Specials section. If in doubt contact a admin for clarification.
Keep it Clean! There is absolutely no racial, or sexually explicit posts allowed. Posting NSF (Not Safe for Work) doesn't cut it. Profanity or foul language is strictly prohibited and not necessary. Even putting it in a way like is not necessary and is not needed to have a conversation. Member's children should be able to view the site with Mom and Dad with no concerns.
No Flaming! No one here at It Is The Ride will ever be put down for their choice of Scooter or what they ride. All scooterists are welcome regardless of what they own, where it was made, where it was bought etc. We are here to help each other find solutions to problems not make them feel bad for owning a "cheap" scooter. Not all people can afford a "name brand scooter and some do not wish to. We all have opinions and while some people are more accomplished as far as fixing or working on scooters others are not. If you don't have any desire to answer a simple question from a total "newbie" who may not know something as simple as how to change a spark plug then move on and don't answer, there are those who don't mind. People of all sorts come here for fun and information and should feel like they are treated with respect even if they have little or basic mechanical skills. "We are here to help."
No Political Discussions! There is absolutely nothing that stirs up tempers on a forum faster than a political reference. There are thousands of places on the web to do that if that's your thing. Not here. Stick to scooters and life's other lighter issues.
Religion There will be no discrimination allowed against anyone of any religion at any time. That said it is not acceptable to impose your religion, beliefs or non-beliefs on others. If you have a religious website you can post a link in your signature. Saying "God Bless You" and other similar expression when replying to a tragic post is fine as well. Starting religious discussions is not. Again there are thousands of other sites that specialize in that.
Generally speaking if a Staff member notices a violation he or she will warn that member via a Private Message. If the member persists it will result in their being banned from the forum.
Now keep it civil and go have fun, learn, and prosper. Remember... It's all about the ride!
I would like to add, part of being polite is to not occupy all the screen with your picture in the signature of your posts. Please keep photos down to 150 pixels tall in your sig line. If you need help just let us know.
